What travellers are saying
- Martin CarrollWinchester, VA642 contributionsGrowing up, I had heard of the Pope's summer place in Castel Gandolfo. I never had an understanding of the location. Interesting place! Castel Gandolfo is about 25 kilometers south of Rome. In the attached photos, you can see the area outside the Papal Palace.
If you want to see some photos beyond the doors, go to the site of "Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo". It has some very nice photos of the garden areas.Written 2 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We got to visit the living quarters and the views of the lake were stunning. I thought it was a nice relaxed way to spend some time away from Rome. The town is nice and we did some shopping and had a lovely lunch before getting the train back to Rome.Written 19 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Manuela LLuxembourg City, Luxembourg7,086 contributionsIn centro of Castel gandolfo near the palace is this nice little church dedicated to San Tommaso da Villanova; I saw in Rome in basilica San Andrea, San Tommaso da Villanova in his coffin or bier and he was like a waxfigure and peaceful sleeping, it was a little bit frightening for me.Written 13 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - M HCitta della Pieve, Italy173 contributionsWe expected to view a small selection of rooms but saw may of the interlinked state rooms, private chapels, desks, a bedroom, grand hall ways and a fine collection of papal portraits with detailed information plaques, robes and other displays making a very full hour tour. The cars were a treat for the chaps too.Written 19 August 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
