Alongside the East River there is a great walk which takes you along the river in Brooklyn. After you pass underneath the Brooklyn Bridge and before you get to the Manhattan Bridge there is a small park. This is the Empire Fulton Ferry State Park.

There is a small children's play area and there is an area you can take your dog to run around as well. There are benches here as well as alongside the river.

It's really nice that there is this green space next to the river to enjoy. Excellent for your wellbeing :)

We had an amazing time doing the Foam Bomb challenge! We were ranked 120 and did really well, athough we almost beat the bomb by like 1 second, we still had a lot of fun and look forward to coming back and beating it next time! Austin was very kind with our onboarding and taking pictures of our group, and applauded our efforts. Can’t wait to come back next time 💣

Cute aquarium! A lot of buildings storing different tanks, so be prepared to spend about half your time walking around outside. Has a short tunnel-crawling and domed tanks, as well as some adorable seals, penguins, and sea otters. We went around the afternoon in the dead of winter, and even then it was surprisingly crowded. Not a massive aquarium, but does a lot with the space they have. Got some great photos of fish staring me down.

Yes, it is designed for children but isn't that part of the fun? We took our time looking at the exhibits of monkeys, birds, fish, etc. The landscaping was nice and there were enough places to rest for us older people. The price is nominal for entry and certainly worth it. Glad we went after walking through Prospect Park!

Went there on a very windy Sunday afternoon and I think some vendors might have called it a day early because of that, because there were about 20-30 vendors.
Necklaces (said to be dating back to even 1860) around $ 120, (Nice, but still second hand jackets around 100) Sunglasses 50 and up, tees 10

This is a fun open-air food market held in Prospect Park on Sundays during the summer. Other locations include the World Trade Center and Williamsburg. There are dozens and dozens of vendors spanning foods of all cultures. Everything from lemonade to chicken to lobster to ice cream can be found. I got a cheesesteak from Fedoroff’s which did not disappoint. It can get pretty packed so get there early with a blanket to get prime real estate under the shade in between the two rows of vendors.

My family really enjoyed our time at the museum - we have a 6 year old and 2.5 half year old and they both enjoyed spending 2-3 hours there. The pretend play exhibits were enjoyable for them and it was a fairly large space to run around. Parking isn’t the most straightforward as there’s limited street parking so allow time for that if driving there. The space is also a bit dated but it doesn’t really matter for kids - who enjoy the interactive play and exhibits.

Brooklyn Chinatown is much more packed than last time we were here. Huge change from 6 years ago. We did a food crawl in Brooklyn Chinatown 8th Avenue. Thirty blocks of Chinese stores, restaurants, and humanity. In the 1980’s, Chinese from Guangdong province arrived and established their businesses. Cantonese was spoken. Immigrants from Fukien province flooded in since the 90’s. This Chinatown has now commonly to refer to as Little Fuzhou. Hardly anyone spoke English. However you can find everything & anything you can imagined on 8th Avenue sidewalks. IMO, there was more foot traffic here in Brooklyn Chinatown than in San Francisco’s, Manhattan’s or Flushing’s Chinatowns. There are many sidewalk food carts, making and selling fresh rice rolls, skewers meats, drinks, congees, warm tofu pudding, etc. We ate Xiaolongbao and Portuguese egg tarts along the way.

This is one of the neighborhoods close-in to downtown Brooklyn that is changing rapidly, becoming much more rich. Full of architectural gems, pretty blocks with huge trees. Served by the subway, some streets of cafes and cool restaurants.

NY Mets minor league team, decent baseball from up and coming players. However, the lack of security during the game leads to some problems when certain fans who become drunk, and outright disorderly. They announce a fan code of conduct BUT if nobody is there to enforce, then you will see a break down. Some fans also get out of hand due to "entitlement" attitudes, that is also under a fan code of conduct

Such a great part of Brooklyn! This is the shopping street for several brownstone neighborhoods so it is loaded with places to eat and drink as well as buy stuff. The subway comes here so people rush there. A real charming neighborhood.

The Saturday-only guided walking tour provides an excellent overview of the Brooklyn Navy Yard's history and its current industrial usage now that the City of New York owns it. Our guide walked us through several of the century-old buildings, describing how they were used once to help the Navy build & maintain warships and are now used by a wide variety of industrial tenants.

We also got to visit the Yard's Building #92; now used to hold a museum with extensive timelines showing how the Yard has contributed to American history for ~200 years. Our tour took us to the roof of one of industrial buildings to see a bird's eye view of the whole yard and the various waterfront wharfs. Our final stop was to see the oldest dry dock (#1), which is still used these days to maintain Coast Guard cutters based in NYC.

The yard's remaining nautical usages are mostly for government river craft, such as the NYC Ferry system and the Fire Department. Note the Brooklyn Navy Yard is some distance (~15 minute walk) from the nearest subway station, so be prepared to do lots of walking to both get there and on the tour.

Take a long stroll on the residential streets and enjoy the classic brownstone architecture. This area has been discovered and is in transition as people snap up the classic houses.

There are great views and amazing vibes. There were lots of young people having picnics, playing beach volleyball, families enjoying the beautiful space and lots of dog friends.
