What travellers are saying
- imb1971england130 contributionsBrilliant venue restored to right level. Good audio guide and nice beer garden too. Friendly staff all round. Captures what prison was like.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Howard SLondon, UK74 contributionsExcellent venue, historic setting, knowledgable and friendly staff, well timed tour, very worth going to see.Written 1 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Cavalier1994Bethesda, MD49 contributionsThis is seriously one of the funnest places to go to in Philly. The sheer amount of vendors and over the counter food places is overwhelming. The market bustles during breakfast and lunch but activity dies down in the late afternoon. I like Herschel’s East Side for their pastrami and corn beef sandwiches. Also the fruit stand near the back is very nice. Was dead set on getting an Amish breakfast at Dutch Eating Place on Sunday but forgot they were closed - darn!Written 29 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Irit YEHaifa, Israel51 contributionsVery interesting museum situated in an amazing building. I came with a member so we didn’t pay admission ($30!!) except for $15 parking (1st hour for members is free). You can find there various art to your like. Yet sometimes you can be annoyed by certain artwork that looks like little babies were drawing them (as one of the kindergartners we met said).Written 3 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wdctraverWashington DC, DC37 contributionsThis is an amazing collection of art, a lot of impressionist art if you enjoy Renoir, Cezanne and others. Jam packed presentation of art with antique “hardware” like door hinges and locks and other metal household items interspersed.
In each room there are pamphlets labeling each item. I would survey the pamphlet and them look closer at my favorites.
The museum store is nice. I think there was a cafe? Pretty atrium. Easy parking.
Very cool collection. We spent about 2 hours there. Small rooms are packed with art. Really neat. Highly recommend!Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. No tickets required or available. It’s just as simple as getting in line.
Obviously, the earlier one goes the shorter the line will be.
I have been twice in the past three years and I must say that the line moves fast and people seem to be cooperative about allowing a moment for a good photo
Just take a moment and offer to take the next persons group in a photo
Parking is, literally, underneath in a garage - but get there early it fills up

- Patricia BAtyrau, Kazakhstan129 contributionsIf you are a fan of the Rocky movies, this would be fun to see. You can even run up and down the steps with the Rocky theme playing on your phone. It was too hot during our visit. You could combine this with a visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art Thursday- Monday. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.Written 20 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- greglinmonLas Cruces, NM744 contributionsA lot of space, not tons to see. The movie was ho hum, really just a space if visiting other parts of Independence National Park Service site.Written 27 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nathan SPennsylvania23 contributionsNot a bad venue for a baseball game, stadium is clean and lots of parking but traffic around the stadium is nuts so make sure you leave early because when I went most of the fans were getting there late. Not as many food options as some stadiums I have been too but all in all a decent time for a day out.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - eastcoasttransplantNew Jersey157 contributionsWonderful exhibit. Beautiful grounds intended to replicate the Rodin Museum in France. Many sculptures to look at, along with written notations about the piece and the response by the French audience at the time.
I have no idea what Rooindie, below, is talking about. There is an abundance of sculptures inside and outside. I have also been to the Rodin sculpture garden at Stanford, CA many times and there are even more here to view. Definitely make a stop. The admission price is listed, but you can also give what you want.Written 23 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The building is beautiful as well. I asked one of the staff how he knew so much about history and found out that he actually had a PhD in history. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I would say do not miss this museum if you’re going to visit Philadelphia.Written 4 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jonathan R4 contributionsThe presentation "Freedom Rising" was stirring. I loved it. The main exhibits were terrific, but construction ends the history around the 1940s. My 14 y.o. daughter enjoyed it a lot. The "Can you vote yet" sections--showing how voting was limited to white men with property for much of US history--were very impactful. The big representations of the three branches of government were great. I would have liked to have spent more time reviewing Supreme Court decisions--they were great.Written 26 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IMWHMSleepy Hollow, NY40 contributionsThis was a last minute visit, and unfortunately we did not have enough time to absorb all the information or exhibits. We did, however, get a guided tour by a very lovely docent (Thank you, Helene!).
Peeked in the gift shop on the way out, which was well curated...looking forward to going back!Written 13 March 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is mainly mosaics and eclectic art made from glass, plates, tiles, bicycle wheels and just about anything that is colorful or recyclable. So much to look at and explore. We got there at 5:10 and it closed at 6 pm and we would have liked to have just hung out and enjoyed the beauty for a few hours.Written 3 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
