Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a massive ticket item I crossed off my bucket list. The venue is absolutely fantastic and the staff is very friendly.

I was surprised with the quality of the food — chicken kebab was great, and the french fries were delicious and abundant.

Coming in solo, I had to share a table with someone that also came alone. I was very lucky that I landed with someone that was nice and was also there for the show.. not everyone's cup of tea but it did work for me.

ARRIVE EARLY so that you can get good seats.

An iconic Jazz location which genuinely exceeded all expectations. I went with my daughter, and whilst neither of us are jazz aficionados the quality of music, the atmosphere and everything about our evening was magical. I love New York (this was my 6th visit), but will now ensure that every return I go back to this magical place.

I´ve been a Blues fan almost all my life, I live in Mexico City and now at 46 yrs I had the 1st chance to listen to it live! I did my research, and this bar was mentioned many times, so I planned my itinerary accordingly.

The prices are ok, the waitresses and bartenders were friendly and professional.

I got the chance to listen to Jr Mack (Grammy Nominee) which was great, the whole band has something special and I´m thankful of having this memory now.

You are not allowed to take pictures or videos of the band... at least that you are a woman and dance with the manager (I supposed he was, short guy, long gray hair with sunglasses) I would love to have at least one song recorded on my phone but well, I didn´t wanted any trouble, that said, it was a great night; My 15yr old self finally got to listen a real blues band; as a guitar player and singer, I learned a lot and will make sure to honor it when I jam. Long Live the Blues!

It helps to get tickets in advance because Smalls is small. They take walk ons but you usually have to sit in the back. It is not handicapped friendly. It has winding steep steps. They have a lot of great jazz musicians performing there. It is one of the clubs we usually frequent. There are many jazz clubs to choose from in NYC. Subway is the cheapest way to travel there from your hotel or wherever you are staying. Taxis are outrageously expensive. $39 to go 2 miles in heavy traffic.

We went to Cafe Wha on Funk Night. The band was brilliant. Guests also performed a version of "open mike" but they all definitely knew what they were doing. The rapper from Bed-Stuy was awesome. The vocalists had the stylings of Donny Hathaway, Roberta Flack & Lauren Hill.

Music charge is a very sensible $15 person. And drink prices are very reasonable. Shout out to our awesome server Lizandra. This place offered a solid two hours of entertainment: it was fun.

Such a fun night we went back again a couple weeks later, and I’m going to bring my sister when she visits me from out of town next month.

A beautiful, small jazz club in the Village – everything you want a classic New York jazz experience to be. Good cocktails, intimate room, great vibes. Dress up or dress down - it kind of doesn’t matter. We saw a performance by the great guitar master Rodney Jones, and later, found out there were some other world-class musicians in the audience sitting alongside us. It was a Monday night and the audience was full. Really fun!

We had a fantastic night! There was live music with Sarah the pianists and it was simply awesome. The staff created such a friendly and open space which made the whole experience even better. Would definitely come back again

Mezzrow is the best place to hear live jazz in the Big Apple. The music is always top-notch, and the people who pack the room every night are there to listen.

That's a great combination for anyone who loves jazz.

We had to visit here - this is where gay liberation began. We found it friendlier and more pleasant during the day than at night. Drinks are expensive but I don’t really blame them for capitalising on the fame of the place. They also sell a good range of commemorative T shirts.

Apparently there is nothing left of the interior of the original bar where the riot took place (according to Wikipedia) but that shouldn’t detract from the history of the location. I was pleased to see that a museum is being created next door which should open in 2024. Also don’t miss the displays and statues in the park opposite.

Had a great time listening to two bands here. Be sure to look at the list posted outside of all the artists who have performed there over the decades - AMAZING. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. It can be very crowded when the first band of the evening is still playing and the fans of the second band are arriving. The dinner option I chose was the food truck outside. I would definitely go back.

Ona recent trip to NYC, I was looking for a jazz venue that was open on Mondays and was very informal. Arthur’s looked promising. It is situated in a busy part of the West Village and is old, run down, and has lots of character. The house rules are “cash only” and “two drink minimum per set”. No cover, but remember the rules. Monday night is the Grove Street Stompers- a Groupon older guys who have been performing tougher their for 57 years.

We had a really great evening here on our last night in New York. Just wish we discovered it earlier! The manager was fab and so engaged with all the customers. Really couldn’t recommend it enough.

This is a nice way to enjoy the nightlife in East Village when travelling solo, even in the rain. Skye, you were a great guide, ty.

Booked this following great reviews. It was excellent in terms of comedy and more acts than I expected (6 in total). Drinks service was good although I think the enforced two drink per person minimum was a bit outdated to say the least. The queuing system outside could be a lot better it was unclear and a bit adversarial to get in especially if you arrive a bit early, basically being told to go away and then queue up but once you are in it was great. Well worth it.
