Biltmore Gardens
#1 of 30 Nature & Parks in Asheville
Fun and relaxing to walk through the various types of plantings and décor found in the garden area (formal garden, rose garden, greenhouse, special room with orchids, nature walk with various trees, etc).
These beautiful and varied gardens, created by landscape architect Olmstead (who also designed NYC's Central Park) are another highlight of a trip to the Biltmore Estate (and included in the estate admission fee).

If you want a longer and slightly more challenging hike, park in the picnic area and hike up to the ranger station and then on to the craggy pinnacle.
These are some of the best views on the parkway, and for lovers of nature there is plenty to keep your mind and imagination active.
Western North Carolina Nature Center

He loved the snakes, looking at the owl, watching the otters, petting the goats, and playing at all the fun stops along the path throughout the Nature Center.
My husband and I visit the WNC Nature Center every time we're in Asheville and we always enjoy it - especially watching the river otters swim and play.

Always enjoy the "Freshness' of nature, the hiking trails and listening to babbling brooks and waterfalls
A Park Ranger was available when we came to answer questions and we chose the moderate trail based partly on his recommendation.

Awesome hiking and biking park.
It's also free if you park at a certain place for the trails- I think you only have to pay access to the park if you want to go fishing, I'm unsure.
Beaver Lake

You may need to park at Bird Sanctuary and there's a wooded trail there, too, though I haven't tried what many joggers seem to enjoy This is a lovely, well maintained haven.
