Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Whitney B48 contributionsBeautiful beach with bathroom facilities and parking. We stayed in Princeville at Pu’u Poa condos from 12/26/24-1/3/24 and visited Hanalei Beach 4 times. The surf was high. So was perfect for surfing. Our 17 yo son rented a board and spent allot of time in the water. The bathroom facilities and free parking lots are at the north end by Black Pot Beach Park and Hanalei Pavillion Beach Park. If you have a handicapped pass, bring that and go early as parking fills quickly.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MN_on_the_roadRockville, MD264 contributionsI wasn't sure if we would make it to this garden, but managed to fit it in on the last day of our trip and was so glad I did! They only have parking for about a dozen cars so grab a reservation. This capacity limit means the garden is quite empty (unless a hikers shuttle just arrived) and so relaxing and gorgeous to explore on your own. It's an amazing way to see the North Shore if you are not hiking Haena - just make a day trip with stops in Hanalei and Tunnels Beach and end here right by the Haena entrance. You will feel like you got to see the Napali coast area close up.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - lisaG2652XDNorco, CA32 contributionsA popular spot---parking was quite full. first stop was the taco truck along with some locals. Then found a nice shaded spot and got a mixture of sun and rain. Several fishermen on the pier--catching crabs and fish. Beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls. Plenty of restrooms, rinsing areas, plenty of open space for kids and dogs.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CasandraTPSydney, Australia4,288 contributionsThis church is in the most beautiful spot, with the mountains as its backdrop. Unfortunately the day I was there it was closed, but do stop and have a walk around this lovely church.Written 6 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Wam3 contributionsJust amazing! Bring lots of water. It's a tough hike, but totally worth it! Wear clothes you can go swimming in, and plan on wading through streams.Written 25 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Y_KathyMoorpark, CA1,709 contributionsAllTrails classifies this hike as a "Moderate" but with the long very steep ascents / descents I'd say it is on the verge of "Hard" because you definitely will get a very good workout especially if you ascend to the second lookout of Hanalei. Even if you only make it to the first lookout, the views are amazing and worth it. Most of it is shaded so it a good hike for a hot, summer day. Use insect repellent because it can be buggy.
Fortunately, it did not rain the week we were in Kauai so the trail was not muddy which would have definitely made it "Hard."Written 16 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's filled with art from exotic islands in the Pacific Ocean, really unique souvenirs and show pieces. There so much to browse, it's almost like a museum.Written 6 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pfefmeisterSan Francisco, CA4,393 contributionsAn antique store in Hanalei? We were shocked to find this little gem behind the typical tourist stores in downtown Hanalei. Not a big selection, but well curated, with unique Hawaiian gifts from the past. Loved quite a few vintage vases, great selection of vintage shirts, just a potpourri of things I know you’ll find interesting. Check it out.Written 1 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lee GPhiladelphia, PA276 contributionsThe National Park Service has built a new overlook with informational placards, ample parking with room to turn around, and restrooms with stunning views of the taro fields below. It is easier to pull out if you are heading southbound. Check opening times- it wasn't open every day, and only until three PM on the days we visited shortly after it opened.Written 22 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dr_XaosPalatine, IL1,308 contributionsWife and I wanted to sample some authentic Hawaiian fruits and vegetables while we were staying on Kauai. Drove over to the Waipa Farmer’s Market on a Tuesday afternoon to check out the wares of the day. Arrived only 15 minutes after they opened the market, and some of the produce options were already sold out for the day… Popular place with some even more popular items. We were, however, able to get some star apples, a papaya, a chocolate sapote, and a yellow pineapple. Everything was freshly grown, good quality, and reasonably priced.Written 9 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - armchiMississauga, Canada48 contributionsPrices are a bit pricey on this location, but there are other grocery stores nearby with cheaper items. Mostly health food items compared to regular food items. Good place to purchase some hot food but there are also other food stands nearby.Written 27 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jane DVancouver, WA15 contributionsThe Art and Soul gallery has reopened in Hanapepe, Kauai, HI in a space that was once occupied by the Amy-Lauren gallery. 4545 Kona Rd 808-652-7928. We drove down from Princeville on a hunch and it turned out so great that we did. Mercedes is usually closed on the day we came, but happened to be there. Another customer and we were both there buying art. A huge range of styles, media and prices. Absolutely worth the visit. I highly recommend.Written 31 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
