Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kaylynn B1 contributionDid the 9:30am Paddle board and had an amazing time we saw jellyfish and beautiful houses and overall the water was really calm. Meghan was our tour guide and most definitely recommend her she gave us good restaurant suggestions and also told cool stories about the water that we paddle boarded in. She even took photos for us that made the entire experience memorable so we could look back at the experience.Overall would highly recommend .Written 11 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gaby S3 contributionsAwesome experience! We got to see dolphins and some pretty cool fish. Only thing is the sea can get really bumpy so if you get nauseous easily (like me) I recommend taking medicine and sitting near the end of the boat.Written 29 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kay RFulton, NY18 contributionsSo fun. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. The staff explained so much about the sea life and area. Our sightings were AMAZING. We had so many dolphins riding in the wake! We saw sting rays also. It was definitely worth the money. And the drinks were delicious!Written 20 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jocelyn C1 contributionDefinitely would recommend! I’ve never been kayaking and had a great time and never got too tired. The guides were really nice and great about letting everyone go at their own pace. Saw plenty of dolphins, but even without those it was fun and would definitely recommend. I got a double with my mom and it was a great bonding experience, but only if you’re a good communicator. It’s definitely physical, so I wouldn’t recommend if you’re unable to exercise, but I never work out and I was having a great time. It’s also very relaxing to take a break and stick your feet in the water for a bitWritten 25 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dave P1 contributionThanks to Kelsey for setting us up with Kayaks, we had a great time fishing on the Back bay. We took a single and a tandem and even managed to catch a few fishWritten 31 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allie S3 contributionsCaption Bob and his first mate were the best! There was four of us and we had our own private cruise. We got to see the beautiful sunset and enjoy our time exploring through the bays. You are allowed to bring your own food and beverages. Bob was very informative and got to share a lot with us. We also got to see some lighthouses and a bunch of dolphins swimming. If you are looking for a sunset cruise I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CAPTION BOB! He is worth it and you can’t beat the price. Next time we’re in Virginia Beach we will be reaching out to him again.Written 5 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Melissa KOklahoma City, OK39 contributionsWe enjoyed our kayaking excursion with Bryan very much! We kayaked through First Landing state park and it was a great experience. Bryan taught us about the different wildlife, ecosystems within Broad Bay and the history of First Landing and what makes that area so unique. The history is fascinating and I learned so much!
The kayaking itself was a great time. We felt secure being led by our guide and he had a very warm and charismatic presence. He did a great job making sure our group was keeping up and gave good instruction on technique.
It was a very windy day and Bryan led us along an area that would shelter us from much of that wind… we were concerned we would be cold and uncomfortable, but it actually ended up to be very pleasant. We unfortunately didn’t see any dolphins, but we saw and touched several jellyfish and saw eaglets, herons, ducks, osprey, oysters. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed, but he did a great job pointing out what we did see and we enjoyed a pleasant sunset kayaking tour interacting and learning all the while!

Our guide was awesome and also a vet, so lots of info. Thank you again.
