Nice beach with a great boardwalk and restaurants. The striped houses are interesting, but not a must see, IMO.

Being Newfoundlanders, with our fishing connection to Portugal, we just had to visit this museum. Easy Uber trip from the train station. The museum is housed in a beautiful modern building and is far bigger than we imagined. We throughly enjoyed the museum exhibits especially the section on codfishing in the North Atlantic. We also enjoyed the displays of traditional Portuguese ships and models and also the section on navigation. The documentation was in Portuguese so we simply used Google Lens to easily translate and missed nothing.

If interested in Portuguese maritime history it’s a great place to spend a few hours. Well worth a visit.

If you ever get the chance to walk to the top, the views are fantastic, the history of the lighthouse is very interesting, it is very well maintained and overall a great experience and free of charge. It is only open on Wednesday between 2-5pm when we visited in September.

Beautiful beach but no rental parasols. You can rent a cabin tent for some shadow. Nice sand and lots of room.

We visited this ship on September 29. Free parking is available next to the Oudinet garden. You have to go through this public garden to get to the entrance. You can buy a ticket to visit the ship, but also a combination ticket to visit the ship and the maritime museum in the city of Ilhavo. The information boards are in Portuguese and English. There are some steep steps in the nave. It gives you a good idea of how those sailors lived and worked to catch cod.

This is the perfect place to buy fresh fish or seafood. There are also a few shops with vegetables, fruit and cheese.

Terrible place. Worst of the whole Portugal. Concrete, uncharming town next to the nice stretch of the white sanded beach. Better to avoid.

We visited the center on September 29. You can park in the street. On the first floor was a temporary exhibition about a local photographer. On the second floor, you can see local religious memorabilia and maritime religious artifacts. Unfortunately everything is in Portuguese.
