What travellers are saying
- egallon2 contributionsReally enjoyed the staging. The view of downtown was super. Too bad restaurants were so booked and the one we found seats was out of most of their dishes.Written 17 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mich_INew Jersey3 contributionsWe went to a lot of museums and places in Pittsburgh during President's Weekend and Phipps Conservatory was my favorite out of them all. I love flowers. This place surpassed my expectations. Even my husband and daughter (who I usually have to drag to something like this) were impressed. Many beautiful rooms and areas to explore. Well worth the entrance fee. Highly recommend.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- butchartdLondon, Canada145 contributionsTaking this tramway allows you to accomplish two things. First, you can make your way up the mountain and experience fantastic views of the city of Pittsburgh. Secondly, the actual tramway is over 100 years old so you can experience history at the same time. Don’t miss it. It’s actually a bargain for only a couple of dollars each.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Deborah W4 contributionsReally interesting tour! Got to see behind the scenes. - CFRSun City, AZ17 contributionsTook the Dusquene incline up to enjoy the fabulous views from here. Once on top, we were not disappointed. And, as everyone else comments, the views are stunning!
We strolled the neighborhood briefly and hopped into a restaurant across fross the incline to enjoy a meal. Lazy late afternoon, the area was quaint and very nice.
Later we experienced driving the narrow and hilly streets of the area, and can't imagine how the locals manage. Tough job on that one!Written 5 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They enjoyed the dinosaurs, especially touching a real dinosaur fossil. The gems were amazing as well.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Bearsfan19762 contributionsWasn't sure what to expect but was way more then we figured, the museum/ store goes on forever and is a maze of bikes from every year and age range you could imagine. Friendly people and plenty to see.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Danielle P8 contributionsI greatly appreciated all of the history presented throughout this museum and look forward to going back. It can easily be a few hours. I toured middle of week with low attendance which was superb as I was able to really spend time at some exhibits reading and looking over. I spent 2 hours there and 6 floors of artifacts, historical reviews and stories was not nearly enough time. The cafe was decent enough. The gift shop was quite nice with wide variety of items. This is a great option to take your young kids as well with some highly interactive areas. I enjoyed the history of Pittsburgh and spend a lot of my time on that floor. It was fascinating to go through the time periods. Look forward to my next visit and seeing the women exhibit they are working on.Written 9 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jessica P1 contributionFirst time visiting Pittsburgh with my wife on Valentine’s Day and we fell in love with this place. It had so much charm. Couldn’t believe how beautiful (in some spots it seemed a little run down). From the tall buildings, to the beautiful bridges this city has became one of my favorite cities. We travel a lot and visit new places alot so that says something. We can’t wait to go back and explore more during the summer time.Written 19 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trey_walkerRaleigh, NC7 contributionsAwesome time at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh. First, the Aviary is next to a beautiful park that had people walking and playing around -- beautiful neighborhood. We went toward the end of our trip so had to leave after about an hour but easily could have spent much more time there. The facility is designed to be very digestible, so you do not have to walk a ton but still get the quality and depth that the entire ecosystem has to offer. We were able to view a feeding and talk with a trainer on island canaries that was awesome.
The only thing I would recommend is that the biggest room with Tropical Rainforest wildlife only has one screen that has labels of the wildlife, so I would try to do some research beforehand or have a guide on your phone so you can see what you are viewing. Would recommend for people of all ages!Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The front gate area is congested prior to entering the zoo. The zoo is dated in places but there are updates in other areas. It was fun seeing the assorted animals and the aquarium. Plenty of seating throughout the areas.
Visit in the am—gets crowded in the afternoon.Written 6 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There wasn't an overwhelming amount of material so we could take it all in.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
