Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our trip to Tonga with Craig was worth every minute, he went above and beyond with all aspects to make it the most incredible journey. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the entire experience. Craig is most knowledgeable and passionate about whales, especially with regards to their wellbeing.
This trip is something that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Thank you.

There are a confusing number of markets in Byron Bay. Market signs are everywhere in Byron Bay so it’s quite a challenge to figure out which one is which and when it’s on.
This TA listing is about the Community Market, the biggest and most popular. However there are also the Beachside Markets (only held 4 times a year), the Farmers Markets (Thursday mornings) and the Twilight Markets (every Saturday, from Oct-April, 4 - 9pm).
The Community Market is held on the 1st Sunday of the month, with an extra two special dates in summer.
It’s spread out over Railway Park and the surrounding streets, which get closed off for the morning. It seems to start around 8am and extends into the mid-afternoon.
The grassy area around the park is the nicest part. The stalls run alongside the old tracks and this is where most of the food and juice stalls are clustered and where you can lie out on the grass and listen to live music.
It’s a sprawling market. They advertise something like 300 stalls and there probably are that many. It’s pretty overwhelming.
It was also less bohemian and more commercial than I’d expected.
There are still one-off pieces and people designing or crafting what they sell but many of the stalls look very similar and there are lots and lots of clothing, beads, hats and jewellery.
Disappointingly, we didn’t see any second hand book or record places or antique stalls.
If you want to cover everything, you’d have to be quite methodical but this gets very tedious, very quickly. If you just want to browse, or aren’t that into markets or don’t have much time, you can easily skip whole sections and you won’t even notice.
I bought a couple of things but the best part was grabbing some food and juices and finding a spot in the shade on the grass where a local band was playing.
I can recommend the juice van & the Watermelon Ginger Zinger (look for the van wth all the colourful signs). The hot roast lamb rolls were also great. Dripping with rich gravy and mint, they were a handful but were delicious.
NOTE: Parking is horrendous so if you have a car and get lucky enough to see a spot, grab it. We parked some way out of town and walked back which we found easier than trying to navigate the busy streets.

It is rare to find an art gallery that has numerous pieces that I love. And our friends felt exactly the same.
Alex, the owner, has an incredible eye for quality. He is clearly passionate about the pieces in his gallery, has a mountain of knowledge, and happens to be one of the nicest people you are likely ever to meet!
Located in the arts and industrial estate.
    Treat yourself.

I'm pleased to say that when I visited Byron Bay Gallery this morning, I was met by Tommy Salmon the owner, whose interest in my work was welcoming and genuine. I look forward to dealing with this gallery, I'm inspired to go home and create some more work for this gallery. As a local artist, there are few opportunities to reach an audience. This space is very inspiring, with many local artists on show, at reasonable prices. Tommy seems sincerely interested in seeing artists make a reasonable income. I'm looking froward to seeing some framing I left with him as well, good price, very professional job. Thanks for your time Tommy.

You can find all sorts of paintings in this little gallery behind Byron main beach. The abstracts I saw were extraordinary but there are also plenty of local landscapes. But they aren't just ordinary landscapes. These are extraordinarily original works from a world class 'en plein air' painter!

For anyone who loves art or just needs a unique souvenir of the region, I highly recommend you check them out.

We made a special point of attending these much hyped weekly markets. We had planned to eat here and hoped for some interesting local art and craft.

The stalls: there weren’t many and those that were there were fairly dull and uninspiring, with three exceptions- the man carving up coins had some interesting work, the wooden bookcases were nice and the star of the night was the young man selling original paintings. All in all, the rest were a drab bag of dusty clothes, leather bound journals that looked mass produced, and tired goods not worth much at all.

The food: well, no one was buying any and some stalls were unattended. As a general rule of thumb I don’t buy food if no one else seems interested - so I didn’t try it. To be fair it’s hard to buy food when the stall is unattended or the attendants that are there aren’t actually cooking.

Maybe it’s better in the warmer months?

After waiting patiently for many weeks to have my item shipped, this seller did not respond to multiple contact attempts via multiple channels.

I was fortunate enough to have a fraud/disputed transaction case decided in my favour.

This is my personal and factual experience and I would encourage others who have a similar experience to follow up as I have.

Visiting the Byron Bay Cookie Store is a must-do if you love cookies. Just a forewarning they are very expensive but sort of worth it. Friendly staff. A favourite of mine is the macadamia and white chocolate ones, yum!
