Bonneville Hatchery

Located adjacent to the Bonneville Dam and Locks, the Bonneville Hatchery is located on beautifully landscaped grounds that are nicer than most public parks and gardens, and includes picnic areas.
The property is a beautiful park-like setting with very easy to follow arrows to lead you to the tanks and variety of informative areas.

The Salmon ladder viewing area is a must; and the beautiful park-like setting of the hatchery is a great picnic area and being awed by the power of the water being emitted from the dam.

If you have more time, cross the road to the Hamilton Mountain Trailhead, there are some great hikes out of there, or swing down to the Beacon Rock State Park and have a picnic on the river.
Now they dream about moving to Washington state how much they loved the nature, the beauty and fun of Beacon Rock hike.

If this is a concern you can park back out near the fish hatchery and walk about ½ a mile to the trailhead.
It is really nice to just sit with your feet in the water and listen to all the beautiful sounds of Mother Nature!

Hiking to the top of Beacon rock is the main feature of this park, the hike is 1.8 miles round trip and it's a fun trail with some great views.
It is very relaxing and exciting to see the beauty of the nature in this most beautiful park.

What you don't know is that there is a beautiful waterfall at this park as well as part of old Hwy 30 that you can hike.
The Starvation Creek State Park exit from I-84 ends at this tiny parking lot - there is literally an exit with nothing else on it except for the park's parking lot so you cannot get lost.

A great 20 min walk from the car park near Arthur's Pass , across a gorgeous few bridges and yes up a lot of stairs but if taken quietly and enjoy every stop along the way is a very rewarding walk.
