In particular Ernie was highly inspiring and knowledgeable as he spoke to us about the museums exhibits.
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the museum, very helpful volunteers ready to tell you about the vast collection of military vehicles and WW2 memorabilia.

You can be sure of a warm welcome at this fascinating museum, housed in a former sail loft, right on the waterfront, in this famous sailing town.
This is a truly delightful museum celebrating the life of one of the colourful characters which Cowes has attracted over the years.
The Classic Boat Museum East Cowes 0.7 km away
#1 of 2 Museums in East Cowes
The Classic Boat Museum, was the first on the list, and I'm so it was, there were boats of all description, sailing, adventure and early racing boats, but a definite must see
The museum is in the process of moving to Cowes and only the "gallery" which shows nautical artifacts, pictures, trophies etc is open.
East Cowes Heritage Centre East Cowes 0.7 km away

Right in the town centre, but easily missed, this fascinating little museum has lots of information about the area and its history.
Just a little shop which has been lovingly transformed into a living museum.

Parking was a little challenging but the villa itself is a super little museum.
Small but historic museum of a local Roman Villa .

All the volunteers are very friendly and seem to welcome visitors (not like some mainland transport related museums).
An enthusiastic welcome from the volunteer staff is a great start to a visit to this wonderful free museum, housed in a large warehouse near Ryde town centre.

Fascinating dig with well preserved mosaics and an interesting and well presented museum.
Ignore OzGirl's sour review below, which reveals more about her than it does about the Roman Villa :-) This is a FANTASTIC little museum, and well worth a visit.

Hidden in the basement of the beautiful Royal Victoria Arcade is this museum of Ryde .A great timeline on the history of the town and its people.. Some very interesting documents and artifacts.
Also within the museum is a secondary museum dedicated to the art of the early 50s seaside saucy postcards designed by the late Donald McGill .

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit especially looking at Old Ryde and all the little rooms in the museum part with their amazing content.
This is a fantastic museum dedicated to the much loved Donald McGill.
