Our family was blown away by the experience here. We went to the Casa Tortuga cenote before and it was nice, but super crowded and a tourist trap. This place is off the main road with a more exclusive feel. Both cost around the same, $36 per person. We purchased our package from the kiosk in the Tulum parking lot. There are so many cenote options to visit. This has to be a top choice. You go on a walking cave tour thru 600 meters of gorgeous cave formations , complete with stalactites , stalagmites, and even tree roots creeping down from the cave ceiling!!! Then you are led to an underground cenote which has a footbridge and is well lit, showing the colors of the water and the cave itself. The photos on this page are true. After this you get in your vehicle and drive 10 minutes to the next leg of the tour. It's the best part, as you are given life vests and masks, and a guide leads you down a cave entrance . Hundreds of freshwater fish are at the waters edge. You plunge into the cool water and go on a tour, again marveling at the cave formations. The water is so clear we thought we were in an aquarium. If you have snorkel bring it, as it's an amazingly clear pool of water filled with fish. Only 100 people visit per day .... you do need a car as it's way off the main road. Zoo is lousy and restaurant closed in June 2022. No matter, this was a highlight of trip.

A very nice lagoon for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing in the sun. Water is not as clear as it used to be but there are plenty of rock formations and fishes to enjoy. Watch the tides, there can be a strong outflow making the return swim a real effort. Gets overrun with tour groups in midday so go early or later in the afternoon.

Had never snorkeled before, the cenote was beautiful, if a bit chilly. There wasn’t as much wildlife, but it was an amazing experience.

Mayamar is a magical place! Roberto is the best host hands down! He knows the place perfectly and his tour is simply one of the best in Akumal! I highly recommend all the experiences here, from the cave/cenote tour, the physical healing massages, the energetic alignments and spiritual retreats!

Half Moon Bay beach was overall very good. We stayed in a condo right on the beach. There was a little bit of vegetation to step over occasionally and on one day the water was very cloudy until you got out farther. Overall it was pretty clear and the snorkeling was great, saw tons of fish, an octopus, a couple stingrays, sea urchins, etc. I would stay here again.

Had our first trip to Akumal Mexico in early April. We wanted to find a place we could visit and bring some donations to. We found this great place for Mexican children. A place for the children to play and learn. We dropped off our donations and were invited back to visit the children. I loved seeing the children jump on trampolins, ride bikes and build legos. They have art classes and other classes for them. A cute little libary with many books. They take the older kids on field trips to see their beautiful area. It was a highlight off my trip to Mexico. A great place to support.

We went to Central Akumal during our stay in North Akumal. There’s a lot of inexpensive and excellent food in “Old Akumal”. Definitely stop by the Farmer’s market to take some fruit to your home away from home.

We went to the cenotes and there was no one else there! We basically had a private denote for 2 hours and the entry fee was 10 dollars a person. The cenote had a rope to swing into it, a "diving board" and a little hammock! Only downside was the dirt road getting there. Be careful and drive slow!

I did my open water PADI course at this centre and it was the best decision I made. Eduardo, Sarah were really friendly and my instructor Lea was really helpful and patient which made the experience fun and less daunting. The dive sites they took us to were amazing and they offered free transfers to and from my hotel. I highly recommend taking a course or one off dive with them!

Just want to say a massive THANK YOU to all the team at Akumal Bay Dive Center. After a stressful couple of years, we wanted a relaxing holiday with the focus on diving and decided to return to the Akumal Beach Resort as we’d had a good experience at that hotel many years ago before the makeover. After talking to all 3 dive shops in the bay we went with these guys as Vito was super friendly and helpful. Everything was easy, we were given a locker close to the boat, so we didn’t have to carry all our gear up and down the beach every dive. I get incredibly seasick, so it was great for me that the dive sites are so close and the boats return to the shore between dives. All the guides were helpful, knowledgeable, fun and always helping us spot interesting sea life. We did most of our dives with Helder and Michelle (sorry if I spelt any names wrong!), both great guys. We always dived in small groups which meant that the guides could be attentive, and we got friendly with some of the other regular divers. Aramis also organised some centoe dives for us with Chino (a very experienced cave diver) which was a surreal and magical experience. I can’t recommend these guys enough; we had such a wonderful time and we really hope to come back one day 😊
Thanks again, Siân and Lee. xxx
