The Walkway over the Hudson provides a slice of Manhattan clamor over the Hudson River, complimented by breathtaking views and the crisp fresh air of the Hudson Valley in one delightful stroll.
The out and back hike is very easy and fascinating in any weather with grand views and excellent explanation boards with fantastic old pictures of the industrial history of the river.

Val-Kill Cottage Hyde Park 6.7 km away

The only National Historic Site dedicated to a first lady, the understated property reflects both the private and public Eleanor and is a modern day gem.
... Val-Kill itself is (I think) best understood within the context of some other notable historic sites in the area (namely, The FDR historic site which an be reached by both walking trail and car, and Top Cottage).

Our NPS guide was excellent - his intimate stories of FDR's boyhood, family, marriage, law school, political career, and battle with polio made touring the site a rich and personal experience.
The hikes are quite nice and one could spend a whole day exploring the area on foot, even walking on the Hyde Park Trail to the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site or Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site.

Picturesque view of the river from both sides of the bridge, especially at sunset in the fall!
Greats views north and south but if driving I recommend you keep your eyes on the road as the lanes are narrow.
