Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped in on Sunday, Nov 26 as we were in Old Forge for Christmas in the ADKs weekend. Lovely bar and business with excellent staff and service. While we don't usually drink beer, I was able to find a tasty 1911 raspberry cider, and husband had a specialty drink and a spiked root beer float. He had chowder, which was great, and an excellent bacon burger. I had a seriously hefty fried chicken sandwich, which was delicious, and a thrown-together salad that was just OK. (The ranch dressing had an odd flavor, but I managed to eat it all, ha.) I ordered a seltzer. They are made in house, with a seltzer gun and Torani syrup flavorings. I don't recommend them, truthfully. We stayed for two quarters of the football game and left to watch the Bills lose in private, at our motel. The bartender guy was a pure delight, constantly cleaning and checking on everyone. We will definitely come back again!

This is a small museum, but rich in the history of Old Forge. The staff was very willing to discuss the displays and answer questions. My favorite part was the doctor's office from the 1940s/50s on the second floor. We had never heard of the Canadian Indian "invasion" of 1972, so that was a fascinating piece of history too. I don't think we were there for a whole hour, but it was a nice, small town museum, perfect for a rainy day.

I stopped by View with my family when we were leaving the Adirondacks and heading home. We saw the exhibit Unprecedented: Art Responds to 2020. This was an AMAZING exhibit. It wasn't just about the pandemic. The exhibit shows the work the artists created during that time period. For some artists, the pandemic gave the artists more time to create. Some artists created art related to the Black Lives Matter movement. There was a great deal of variety. This exhibit was top quality, what I would expect from a big city, and a real surprise coming from a cultural center in the Adirondacks. I'm amazed that the admission was only $10 and free for teens. What a bargain! We had a peaceful lunch on benches in the peaceful garden at the front of the center. This place is a cultural center, so it is more than just a museum. There are classes here, as well as performances. This center is a true gem!

Attended Jesus Christ Superstar at the Strand this month. Beautiful venue, comfortable seats, great acoustics, friendly staff and an excellent show. Made for a wonderful night. Arrived 1/2 hour before showtime and found free parking on the street a block from theater.

One of my favorite stores in the Adirondacks! At every turn there is something new. My favorite area is the books. So much interesting history and tales about the ADKs. Things you wouldn't find anywhere else. And didn't miss the camping, food, and craft areas!
