What travellers are saying
- Tony AtkinsBulls, New Zealand48 contributionsA jump to far, what a great complex to visit, very worth while . Would highly recommended.
For a facility that has been the site of two Olympic Games this is a very historic facility.
We were lucky enough to go when the 80 meter hill was been used for training juniors, what a great spectacle.Written 31 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brendan G1 contributionThe “short” trail is actually more difficult and the “long” trail isn’t much longer and is easier. We did the short trail up and the long trail down. The way up is basically climbing up and over boulders at an incline the whole way. Was a lot of fun but pretty intense. This is not your average hike (short trail.) bring plenty of water. Arrive before 8am or at or after 2pm when others are leaving. We got there at 2:30 and had open parking spots. On a Saturday.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jpgina53Boston, MA521 contributionsWe were only able to do a drive by of this meaningful site. The burial spot was beautiful and moving with a statue and flowers and appropriate small signs. It is a must see for history buffs and civil rights activists. There are buildings which can be toured. Sight is not far from Olympic Si Jump Complex.Written 5 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert CamperConcord, NH110 contributionsThis museum highlights the two Olympics held in Lake Placid. If you are a fan of the winter Olympics, this is a great way to spend a couple hours. Probably not very interesting for kids (ours were off hiking, so just my wife and I). We have some memories of "the Miracle on Ice" when USA won the gold in Hockey, which happened in that building. There is a little video thing of a bobsled run, and a video of going off a ski jump (which actually caused my stomach to feel a little strange). And there is a little video of the miracle on ice, the rest are static displays. Olympic torches, pins, metals, costumes/ uniforms, athletes... There was some kind of dance/ ice skating competition going on when we were there, which was a paid admission event, so the nice woman taking those tickets was letting folks in to see the ice rink, just for a minute or two, just from the entrance (since we had not paid to see the competition). It was worth it for us, but visit would have been much shorter if we had our two, under 20 year old kids with us. Just more interesting if you have some memory of the last Olympics held there, or a general interest in the winter Olympics.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kelly P10 contributionsWe visited when there was winter competitions taking place...both xc skiing and luge. Very neat to see winter athletes in action. Authentic experience. The mountain coaster was closed....I imagine that would be a fun experience.Written 15 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom GPhoenixville, PA12 contributionsThe town of Lake Placid was very nice - the main street lined with many shops and restaurants. Mirror lake was beautiful. Plenty of scenic spots to relax and enjoy.
Never could access Lake Placid itself. So I have no idea what it looks like, They need to put some access points in to see the Lake.Written 8 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. You need to dress for the weather, because the wind can be very chilly. On a holiday Monday, many shops were super closed.Written 9 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Doug BNew York City, NY16 contributionsGreat cross-country skiing. We were novices but took a couple of classes with Sarah and Blaine. Really good teachers, and we learned a lot. Reasonable prices for the introductory classes, too.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
