The Hall of Fame has been near the top of my Bucket List since I made a Bucket List. I almost made it back in 2021, but had to cancel my plans. I made it this year as a stop on the way back from our Maine trip.

The amount of history is unreal. The bats, balls, gloves, jerseys, and anything else baseball related that is in that building is insane. Everything is put together so well. I grew up a huge George Brett fan and seeing the Pine Tar Bat, a jersey from his 1980 MVP year, and his plaque brought a tears to my eyes.

    Amazing.

You either enjoy art museums or you don't. Regardless, the Fenimore is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Not knowing what to expect, being retired teachers, we were pleasantly surprised by a temporary exhibition of Caldecott Book illustrations. There are also excellent permanent galleries for American Indian, folk and fine art. Save some time in your visit to enjoy the rear plaza and garden with lake views and stroll a trail around the grounds that has some interesting stops highlighting local history. It's certainly more than "just" an art museum.

We went out of our way to visit Cooperstown on Sunday, June 9, 2024. On the way there, we drove along the eastern shoreline of Otsego lake. So beautiful and unspoiled other than the occasional lake cabin/house/development. After arriving in Cooperstown, we found it far too touristy and crowded...yes even on a Sunday morning. We went down to the lakeshore at the north edge of town. so peaceful, so serene. We saw many sailboats off in the distance with the hills as a backdrop, simply beautiful. Downtown- crowded.../ lakeshore...we were alone. Which would you prefer?

This is an incredible adventure is early America. Made more special because it's real! This is a real American country house on the scale of an English country house, with original furnishings and treasures. Very few American homes built before the Civil War survive with their original furnishings, and this is an entire mansion. The architecture is incredible, the stuff inside is incredible, and the history is real.

What fun. If high school history classes were this interesting, no one would be able to leave American History alone.

I teach history, and I teach with facts and figures - that's a requirement - they provide the framework on which you hang the life experiences of the people and events we are studying...but I also hand out real antique quilts, coverlets, clothing, photographs, ornamental plaster chunks from the ceilings of demolished buildings, silver, silver plate and Sheffield plate, ceramics, glassware, and I play music of the period, and provide food. It's easy to talk about Paul Revere, but if you hand your students hand made silver from the 1700s (sadly, not by Revere), his world begins to come alive. I have students who have, voluntarily, taken my classes several times. History is exciting and fun -

Well, that is what this historic site was like for me. It is American history electrified. And really beautiful.

The real wonder is that this home was very nearly bulldozed, and the original contents scattered. What a tragedy that could have been.

However, do not visit an antiques store after leaving this great house - because suddenly all the people who've lived with the things you're looking at will be standing around you urging you to take a bit of their lives home with you, a real souvenir of our America, and they'll be very difficult to resist.

I'm well aware that Doubleday and this location is probably not who and were baseball started, but I have always just went with it.

We walked over to the stadium after visiting the HoF. The gate to the field was open, so I walked onto the field and to 3rd base so my girlfriend could take my pictures. It was so cool. Right there with kissing the bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the track tour I did and standing on the 50 yard line at Notre Dame Stadium. You could feel the sports history around you.

I have heard of the Glimmerglass Opera since I lived in Western NY, but never visited.
What prompted me to come on a whim were two particular productions, The Pirates of Penzance and Calisto.
I have not seen these operas in many years. I am from NYC and used to live a block from the Gibert & Sullivan Society and frequent their presentations. Calisto was last seen by me in another opera house many years ago.
Both Glimmerglass productions are excellent in every respect. Vocally, musically, scenery, costumes.
I truly enjoyed coming to this beautiful opera house in upstate New York.
There is special accessible parking, and they provide cart transport from car to gate before and after the performance.

Great family run operation on the way to/from Cooperstown. Traditional putt-putt course along with other kid friendly pursuits, plus of course, the soft serve ice cream.

Stopped by to try a brew or two and stayed for dinner. Food was way better than expected from a brewery. Great beers as well. Go there if you can.

This is a great gym. Indoor pool, rock climbing wall and tons of exercise equipment and space. What a tremendous community resource, especially in the colder months.

We visited at an off hour and in fact, were the only visitors. We were given small samples of our choosing and they were really good. The bourbon is strong and equivalent to Kentucky bourbon. In fact, we were told they have a market in Kentucky. The whiskies were also good and we ended up purchasing the Spitball Cinnamon Whiskey. Delicious! Plenty of whiskies, bourbons, and spirits to try in baseball decanters. All of them have baseball related names.

Im not sure how to grade this

IMO the admission price was too high at $15, It took me like an hour to do the whole museum and half of that was watching the Bloopers of Baseball videos.

However when I got home I saw the photos I took and they came out pretty good, so thats a plus if you like to take nice photos.

If the $15 doesnt bother you and you have an hour to kill its not that bad
