- Deb N1 contributionStill a good mall, after all these years. When I was a growing up this place seemed like a shoppers paradise to me. After living out of state for many years we revisited on a trip back to the old home town a few days ago . It's still a good mall, large and with a good variety of stores and a decent food court. I expected it to be old and worn out after 50 years, it wasnt. Family members still living in NJ don't appreciate what they have. - eastcoasttransplantNew Jersey164 contributionsYears ago, this was a woodworking store but the new owners have turned it into a great place to try beer and hang out. A truly unique place in Wayne, that is friendly, warm and inviting. We enjoyed a flight of 4 different beer tastings, some recommended by the person who greets you at the register, some that just sounded good. As we drank our beers, we chitchatted with other folks sitting around the main table in the middle of the brewery and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. - duck8toMontville, NJ6,824 contributionsAdmission to the Van Riper-Hoper House Museum is by appointment only, call 973-694-7192. The grounds are open from dawn to dusk year round. Richard (Direk( Van Riper purchased the 45 acre plot of land in 1762. By 1786 Uriah Van Riper and his bride Maria Berdan had built a Dutch Colonial Home on the property. Today the home is on the State Registry of Historical Places in the category of construction and design. The house itself is a typical Dutch Colonial structure of it's time. The building faces south as was the custom. There are six fireplaces. It was built in three stages and generations of Van Riper and Hopper families, There are 5 first floor rooms and 4 upstairs bedrooms in this 1 and 1 1/2 store building. The lower rooms are furnished in 18th/19th century décor, abundant artifacts and some original wide pine blank flooring. An open ceiling with heavy hand-hewn beams are visible. The mortar of the time was a mixture of clay, straw and hair which held the stones in place. Besides the Van Riper House other structures can also be seen. The Van Duyne House (1706), a brown stone Dutch farm house was moved to the property to this site in 1974 from it's location on Route 23. There is an Archeological Laboratory with 1,000 of artifacts collected from the site on the property. Some Native American artifacts are among those collected. A historical herb garden and a community garden constructed in 2013 can also be seen. - rayejClifton, NJ442 contributionsI came her to go strawberry picking with my friend. There were many fields to choose from to maintain social distancing. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. The berries were so sweet and fragrant, There is a small area where you can see various caged birds. There is plenty of free parking. Make sure to stop in the store where they sell numerous fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade baked goods, jams, jellies, and kits for amazing dips such as banana split dip! We bought the strawberry rhubarb pie. My friend bought the peach pie. Excellent quality for $20. I grew up near an Amusement Park and I can honestly say that this beat any Arcade I have ever been in...Hands Down! Great for little Kids , Bigger Kids, and Adults. The best thing is the Meal Deals with the Games. It is worth the wait for the Tables. The food is delicious and good proportions.
