Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Swallow Falls State Park in Maryland offers a serene retreat with stunning waterfalls, lush forests, and picturesque trails. Perfect for nature lovers and hikers seeking tranquility amidst natural beauty. Highly recommended for a day trip or weekend getaway.

I went on a post-graduation trip here with a couple of friends. We stayed three days and two nights in one of the campground cabins, which was perfect. The cabin was a great size for four people, although we could have probably fit another person and still had room. It was my first time staying in a cabin, and I have no complaints at all about the experience. My friends and I enjoyed hiking the trails, hanging out on the beach in the morning, and traveling into the small town to grab food or souvenirs. It was a fun, short trip.

Two adults visited this small, free museum for a couple of hours in mid-June 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It consists of two floors with the second currently under renovation and not open. The first floor has an interesting mix of items relating to transportation including restored vintage autos, a fire engine, buggies, bicycles, toys, tools, etc., with many informational placards. Well worth a couple of hours to browse the items. Elementary or older children will find it interesting. The B&O Railroad museum is across the street and the Garrett County Historical museum is also nearby.

I've stopped by on a few occasions to look at the train displays outside when in Oakland, but the station museum was never opened. However, this time around, the station was open, so we took a look inside. It was ok, some interesting artifacts from the B&O railroad, I liked the dining display and looking at the couple of menus on display, wow things were cheap back then. The trains were also open, so you could go inside the Locomotive. Worth a stop if in Oakland

This museum has a huge collection of artifacts to tell the story of this area. We enjoyed our visit. The museum talks about native Americans, early settlers, and industries (mining, lumbering, railroads, tourism, etc.) Good labels.

What a tranquil place in the post-Labor Day, pre-Autumn season. Lots of easy short hikes or bike rides, a nice lake for short kayak trips--just a very relaxing way to spend a fe days.

We took our teens, and they loved feeding & visiting with the alpacas! We were able to play cornhole before the visit, and the whole family enjoyed going down the mountain slide. Highly recommend for something out of the typical DCL activity.

We stumbled on this place a few years ago and now make it a definite stop every time we are in the area. I always fine something and this time we found exactly what we had been looking for. They have a wonderful selection of everything you can imagine. They are so good to give you tips and show you how to embellish/paint your purchase too. Make sure you stop in for a look here!

Silver Tree Marine is a wonderful hidden gem! We rented a 19' Starcraft with 150hp for several days while at Deep Creek; they also have the fun gear to rent so we added skiis and a knee board. The boat was in very good condition and we were able to dock it nightly at the marina (our rental house was off-lake). They took a video of the boat & prop before we left so there were no issues regarding the condition when we made the return.

The marina staff was very helpful throughout our rental period and the office staff was especially professional on the front end (advising on choices and reservation process).

    An all-around top-notch experience!

Judy and staff truly run a first-class bookstore. She's knows her books and authors and looks for good fits with her customers, who will, in short order, become her friends. In a county containing so many beautiful corners, this is one of my favorites.

My wife and I played Lodestone last Sunday as part of a weekend getaway to Deep Creek. We've played the course several times so we knew what to expect in terms of the course layout and conditions. Our prior experiences have been wonderful and this trip was no exception. From the moment we arrived to the time we left course personnel were there to assist us. As a two some the club pro suggested we play the back nine first and avoid getting stuck behind foursomes on the front. Needless to say we zipped around the course and when we made the turn found we had the front nine to ourselves. We played the course in under 3.5 hours. Course conditions were great and the scenery spectacular. A must play if you're in the area.
