Sachuest Beach (Second Beach) Middletown 39.7 km away
#1 of 11 Outdoor Activities in Middletown
I am very familiar with most South Shore Massachusetts beaches and many Cape Cod beaches.
This is one of the cleanest beaches we have been to, and quite shallow - you can see the ocean floor even 10s of yards into the water.

... just being in great company, it truly has a "Great" environment , water was perfectly clear the day we went though I have been there when it's filled with seaweed but it's one of the best beaches in Rhode Island.
I have been to them all and they are all very nice, but Blue Shutters Beach or East Beach are so much less crowded and more family orientated vs. the other state beaches who have many more teenagers and bused in p...

Walking on the serene beaches overlooking the Buzzards Bay entrance to New Bedford Harbor, it is hard to imagine the battles that played out here.
Ample parking except for the summer months when many locals and visitors take advantage of the miles of coastline and beaches.

Both beaches are exquisite and why Watch Hill is such a jewel of New England.
Our favorite is to the end of the gravel road past the town beach entrance and where one with off-road capabilities may traverse onward for day or camping opportunities behind the sand dunes.

Parking is free after 3pm at the beaches too which made it a great afternoon visit option when the kids got up from naps.
The atmosphere tends to be more chill than the larger beaches, and is rightly considered to be safer for children

There’s a single track road down to the car park by the beach with more toilets (closed in the Autumn & Winter) picnic area and another children’s play area and, of course, you have The Beach!
