Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- The_Gallagher_7Cornelius, NC85 contributionsWow! This place is amazing. I can't believe what treasures it holds. This is a must. The Impressionist works make you think you are in Europe. The Asian works were very cool as well and there were South American works too. Overall a great place to walk through and enjoy at your own pace.Written 5 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ug O17 contributionsImpressionist paintings are among the stunning works of art in the Art Institute. Observed the entire city from the 360's 90th level. In the same region, there is excellent shopping. Even though there was a lengthy wait on a Friday night, the hamburgers we had at Au Cheval were fantastic.Written 30 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VikSpain46 contributionsWe spent like 1-2 hours in the building, it was so worth it. Such a beautiful panorama, with nice staff and great places to take selfies at.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - holidaychicLondonLondon, UK633 contributionsWe did the tilt experience which was fun, lasts about 90 seconds and not as scary as I thought it would be. As others have said they don’t allow you to take photos and yes it is because they take them for you to purchase, which we did. You get a great view of Chicago and we had a cocktail whilst taking in the view.Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The_Gallagher_7Cornelius, NC85 contributionsMuch cooler than I thought! It was easy to access and very cool to see the reflection of the city and a too! Fun photo op. It is easy to pair with the other local attractions. No need to spend long hereWritten 5 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ledbury5Ledbury, UK119 contributionsI visited when everything was closed so just had a lovely walk round the pier. The views back to the skyline are beautiful.Written 1 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- NoraatcSudbury, MA39,949 contributionsWe lived close to the River and admired its clear waters on every walk. Chicago River is unrecognizable now thanks to the very bold cleanup project of routing Lake Michigan water into the river and making it a shining beauty of Chicago. What a contrast from the dingy poisonous river of the old days to the glistening turquoise transparent waters of today!Written 21 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Enor ASaint Louis, MO15 contributionsBeautiful outdoors. Ride Car-age available for fees, food and snacks vendors. Street parking available for $7 hourly. Lots of foot traffic and vehicles traffic too.Written 19 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeffery D1 contributionGreat trip. Would do it again. Next time I would plan ahead more. I would allow more days. We decided not to take our RV trailer (29’) and glad we didn’t. Many times we wouldn’t have been able to park where we were if we were towing the RV. Be sure to purchase your RT.66 shirts early (and often) and when we wore them we met lots of other travelers, some going WB (west bound) while others were EB (east bound) and we shared much information.Written 27 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - sanju_222323New Jersey17,043 contributionsAside from Cloud Gate and Buckingham Fountain, The Chicago Theatre's red and yellow marquee is perhaps one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. At the northern edge of the Loop, The Chicago Theatre first opened its doors in 1921 as an extravagant movie theater and performance venue. Between the theater's unmistakable sign and its stunning façade, it's impossible to miss this stunning Chicago landmark.
the theater has hosted such big names as Duke Ellington, Diana Ross and Prince, in addition to screening blockbuster flicks. The theater's historic appearance enhances the overall experience of catching an event here. Just remember, cameras and video cameras, including those on cell phones, cannot be used during tours or performances.
It is a few blocks northwest of Millennium Park. Even if you don't have time to check out a show, be sure to pop in or schedule a tour to get a closer look.Written 23 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The boats are great and pass close to the shore so it’s always a vibrant and exciting place.Written 22 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ted CBoston, MA28 contributionsAlthough I attended a prof doc meeting in Chicago years ago I just did not get “into” the city until recently. We brought our dog (a lab) so we’re limited in some ways. For sample we couldn’t go into Millennium Park, but it didn’t really matter, because on the east side of the park there is a place for dog travel, as was a great park across the street (north side of the park) at its northeast end. Navy Pier was also pretty dog friendly outside. We walked under LSD up at Oak and then headed north to the beach house after getting a coffee and crumpet at Lavazza. We walked Michigan Ave. to the River then did the river walk west to its terminus (bathroom near by here). Then we went to M Park, then back to Navy Pier for a good outdoor dinner and beer. We drove to the city, put our car up in a commercial facility and brought the pup in to the hotel. Michigan Ave. was beautiful with semitropical foliage all the way down the street, on both sides, and in a middle area too. Gorgeous! The up side: I’m 83 and managed 22,000 steps. Then we drove to Kalamazoo for a college hockey game. And yes. Windy it was. Off the lake.Written 28 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TennisStar602New Jersey712 contributionsMy family and I walked through Lincoln Park. There was a lot of free street parking without any major restrictions. We enjoyed the views of Chicago’s skyscrapers, and this park was well manicured with its plants, its paths, and its fountains. There was even a restaurant within this park. We could also see great views of Lake Michigan. We felt uneasy when we walked through this park at night, and it was empty after sundown occurred.Written 21 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Steve SNewton, MA1 contributionBeautiful bridge. This was just as other reviewers have explained... a perfect spot to take in chicago. Don't plan on spending a long time here... but worth a visit.Written 13 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
