Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cool and hip neighborhood with lots of shops, stores, apartments. It is a good place to stroll and shop for various items. There are coffee shops, vintage clothing shops, vinyl record shops, and more. Go for a walk along North or Milwaukee Ave.

Secularly, anyone interested in architecture will be enlightened by this tour, as our docent Grace communicated so much to our group in a manner that had us all quite engaged the entire time!

Spiritually edifying hearing how the Orthodox faithful and Chicago philanthropists of the time worked collaboratively to build the church, as well as learning about Sts. John and Tikhon, and the Theotokos of Tikhvin icon!!

Truly well worth it ... time well spent!!!

The 606 is similar to the Highline in NYC where the trail is elevated on old train tracks. Love all the plants and trees lining the pathway. They were all well maintained and there’s a variety of plantings. Not very many benches to rest on the pathway but many street exits if you chose to explore the neighborhoods. Damen St in Wicker Park is perfect for drinks & a bite to eat. Just be careful when walking on the trail because there can be a lot of bikes. Definitely a nice alternative trail in Chicago besides the lakefront. Will be back!

Words can’t express how beautiful historic inner-city church’s are. This parish was established by Polish immigrants around the turn of the century. I went to a Latin mass Monday morning.

Interesting experience. Yes it has a cheesy feel to it, and I was trepidatious at the start, but then didn't want to leave when our two hours were over. The venue does have a very attractive look to it, the hundreds of candles give it a nice feeling and the pools are so comfortable/warm. Luxuriating in the salt water pool was difficult to end when the time was up.

There are drawbacks. Firstly, this is definitely not a private experience - you share the space with a pretty significant number of other people, though there was ample space for everyone (I understand they have limited slots during each time period in order to avoid overcrowding). Secondly, you will see lots of human flesh (why is the average American so large?!), a good deal of which sports artwork (yes, call me a snob if you will). Thirdly, the staff is not spa-level quality but rather mostly young inner city types - to be clear, they were all helpful but just a note that this is not a group of white-coated aestheticians assisting you in the spa but rather younger folks with perhaps less familiarity with high level service.

We also had a massage, which was nice in and of itself but does then remove you from the pools. As your total time is limited, taking half of it with a massage does feel like a loss of time in the relaxing pools instead of an add-on to the pool experience. We did note that very few people seemed to be having a massage (it does cost more) and I would suggest that you avoid it - if you want a massage, do that separately. It might help Aire to have the massage time be added to the time in the pools.

So, overall an enjoyable experience but not a super-luxe one. If you want privacy, then there are other venues; if you want luxe, then try a spa at the Peninsula or other nice hotel. But, if a cheesy-ish fun time at a very attractive space with excellent pools is of interest (and it should be during Chicago's grey winters), then give Aire a try.

We went to see a comedy show here with friends. It's in Wicker Park, in Chicago.

The actual theater was a nice venue. Relatively small, so good interaction between the comedian and the audience. A few stadium-style seats along the edges and them some tables in the middle. Sound was functional; the comedians were easy to hear.

On the downside: the bar. The bartender wasn't very helpful and the cocktails he made were nearly undrinkable. And not cheap! Stick to beer and wine when you visit here (though the wine selection wasn't great either).

We have a tradition with neighbors to spend one day a month exploring a new neighborhood in Chicago. It was Humboldt Park's turn, and the main attraction on a lovely late summer/early fall day was Humboldt Park itself! Definitely worth exploring. The park is HUGE and had several beautiful pavilions and vistas. It was a great place to walk, catch-up, and see Chicago in-action.

Spend some time in the field house; it's architecture is beautiful and there's some neat features inside. The pavilion is also gorgeous, with nice views of the water and families having fun in the park. There are several statues throughout the park, including one of the namesake (a German who made important contributions to science). We also enjoyed reading some online history about the park and its surrounding neighborhood--it's played big roles in the history of Chicago's significant Polish and Puerto Rican communities. The crowd in the park during our visit was diverse--great to see families out enjoying a great city's parks on a beautiful day.

Intuit is a museum dedicated to presenting self-taught art, the work of artists outside of the mainstream art. I loved it! While I visited, they presented Jerry’s Map by Jerry Gretzinger and "Surrender to Survival" by Justin Duerr. It is a wonderful place to get familiar with unique artists. They also have a small shop carrying cool artsy items - a great place for buying gifts.

It's a small but nice museum. The people who run it are very friendly. They are eager to tell you about the culture and history of Ukraine, which is very nice. The museum is free. They do take donations. You will see and learn a lot about Ukraine. The egg collection is beautiful!

This place has a lot of hard to find pieces. The staff is very helpful and all prices are negotiable...think American Pickers. That said, items are still pricey even after the negotiation. You better come prepared with your wallet.

Wicker Park, by any standard, is one of the fastest rising and most enterprising of Chicago's neighborhoods. And the central hub of Wicker Park is the Flat Iron Arts Building. Located at 1579 North Milwaukee Avenue, at the busy intersection of Milwaukee, North Avenue and Damen Avenue, it was built in 1918 as an office building but was converted in the late 1960s to an all artist studio building, an artists colony that features visual art, musicians of all disciplines, tattoo shops, costume design, film-makers and other genres of art. It also is host to arts festivals, performances and open studio events. With its distinctive white and black terra cotta surface, it is the dominant feature of Wicker Park's main crossroads. And its rooftop deck offers visitors a splendid view of Chicago's skyline. If that isn't enough, every first Friday of the month artists open their studio doors to the pubic and the building is transformed into one big party scene.

While not huge, this museum has lots of interesting historic items and art work. I especially enjoyed the art work and craft items.

Was browsing this site when I came across this gem đź’Ž

I just knew it would be an excrement to remember.

No need for old newspaper bags with this one, so count your stars, because you'd need several to clean this wet mess up ✌

Beautifully crafted so you'd almost think it's a snake. But no, it was built to look just like yesterday's Dog Chow, and definitely not as smelly as you find out on your perfectly manicured lawn by someone that feels it unnecessary to carry an old shopping bag to clean up after their beloved ball of fur with a face.

So thank you to all who give the privilege of cleaning up after a pet that's not theirs 🙏

We would never otherwise have this monument to be proud to stick our faces in front of for pictures 🤪

You can easily walk up to this, but look closely as it's a smaller size and it's behind cars parked on the street. It's right at the corner of an intersection off the sidewalk.

I had heard of the Ukrainian Museum of Modern Art from a few of my friends who went during Open House Chicago last year. I’ve got to tell you….UMMA did not disappoint!
Some of the artwork there is incredible! One of the things that I found very surprising was the vast multicultural display of work that they had. One of the pieces that I found rather exquisite was this one exhibit that was a series of mirrors that were painted with numerous faces of different cultures and genders. It was absolutely beautiful! The colors were vivacious. The paint stokes told the story of intensity from the artist. It was really a treasure to see.
Then there were some other pieces that were basically , well, let’s just say “ up for interpretation.” Lol. One of them was the usual TV playing in the corner. I thought it was weird, but fascinating at the same time. The quintessential, modern art exhibit. Which gets me to my point. This is what you can expect when you go to the Ukrainian Museum of modern Art in Chicago. Definitely worth the time and visit. Highly recommended! Please see pictures for more! Definitely don’t sleep on UMMA!
