Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- April NPhoenix, AZ127 contributions...the bathrooms are atrocious! Guess that's a good thing though as opposed to folks using the lake as a bathroom right? The lake water is clean. Beach was somewhat clean until people started leaving and not picking up their trash.
Parking in the lot right in front of the beach is not free. It's $2 per hour. I thought parking was free adjacent the lot but as I was going to put more money on my sticker I saw at least 15 cars with tickets. So if you are paying to park I suggest you keep up with the time or pay for all day which is just as much as if you paid to park at North Ave. Beach in a lot.
Plenty of shade and picnic areas. You can grill. There are also vendors selling tacos, corn (elotes), cotton candy, etc. Lifeguards on duty until about 7pm. Swim at your own risk after that.Written 12 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They appeared to be in total control of the beach and its visitors. I was proud to see a predominately young African Americans staff demonstrate such a high level of care and attention to the beach and their position as life guards. I will definitely return often to 63rd street beach in the future.Written 31 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - j sSouth Bend, IN19 contributionsWe saw the beach along Lakeshore Dr. and we had to get to it. We found Parking at 41st street beach a park and pay. Put our ticket in the window and explored this wonderful gem of a beach and park. We enjoyed our walk. Ant views were breathtaking.
We came back to the car with our out of state plates and found our car broken into and all our luggage and personal items that we stored in the trunk were stolen. We reported this to the police and as the report was being filed another car was being broken into as I watched with dismay and fear for the people robbing them were scary and professional looking robbers. We called police and left. We won't forget the beach walk but can't get the robbery of things from our locked car out of our mind. It is a shame. Only a block away a group of kids were at a camp. It is soooo beautiful!!!!Written 30 July 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We knew it was only 9 holes which was fine since we were in Chicago for just a couple days & had a full itinerary. The clubhouse was amazing. Looks like something from the Great Gadsby. Looks like they are trying to bring it back as a historical bldg (going to take a lot of work). I was told the site was part of the 1893 Chicago Exposition. The course was in decent shape for August & fun to play. The only drawback was that the views on holes on the Lake were obstructed by the practice facility, overgrown vegetation & large objects used to control erosion.Written 28 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Allison RIllinois28 contributionsChicago Water Sport Rentals was a great vendor to work with when renting jet skis. Their staff was extremely personable and provided great customer service as they walked us through the rental process. They were thorough and did an excellent job explaining everything we would need to know. Prices are a bit steep, but overall worth the cost to interact with good staff.Written 19 June 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ben SRiverside, IL6 contributionsDo yourself a favor and do a 2-3 river cruise. We did yesterday and it was wonderful. Like a private architectural tour, and the trip around Goose Island is beautiful. It's hard to believe you are in Chicago. Also a great trip to take with out-of-town visitors. The boats are spotless, the pizza is good, and the views are amazing. Highly recommended.Written 18 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- John P5 contributionsMy wife and I took a beautiful 3 hour sail on the 70' America's Cup class sailboat Abracadabra. We boarded Abracadabra along with 9 other passengers after a five minute tender ride from the Monroe Harbor dock in downtown Chicago. The boat was crewed by a Captain and a crew of three. Passengers can participate as much as they want or just settle back and enjoy the ride. We helped work the winches/grinders to hoist the mainsail and jib. The boat is a pleasure to ride on. Even during periods of rather strong winds the boat was stiff and did not heel much. She moved briskly through the water with a comfortable motion. This easy motion was probably due to her 45 thousand pound keel. The mast topping out at 114' allows for a massive sail area providing the boat with tremendous power from the wind. The highlight for my wife and I was the opportunity to stand behind the helm and steer this piece of sailing history. If you have no sailing experience do not worry the captain stands by giving instruction. If you are an experienced sailor steering such a large boat is an awesome experience. Once back at the mooring a tender took us back to Monroe Harbor dock. For anyone traveling to Chicago I would recommend this outing for both the sailing experience and for a great view of the city's skyline. Abracadabra sails May through October.Written 13 September 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
