Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Suzy BBedford, NH150 contributions$15 for a three-day paper ticket pass was the deal of the century. CTA trains and buses got us from Midway to our Magnificent Mile hotel and all around town during our stay. Knocking one point for the broken escalators, stairs and sketchy elevators we had to navigate with luggage. Otherwise, the system was easy to use for these suburban newbies, with seamless integration with Google maps and clear signage and announcements along the way. With our hotel charging $75/night for parking, we can’t imagine doing this any other way.Written 4 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - christopherbO9687MPActon, MA735 contributionsThe Ogilvie Transportation Center (the former NorthWestern Station) has a a decent collection of fast food restaurant in middle of this busy train station. Note this is a dedicated commuter train station, so the crowds and services in side the station thin out after the evening commute is done.Written 14 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelGuyChicagoDeerfield, IL34 contributionsI’ve been riding the Milwaukee District North Line for 35 years. When I first began commuting, it was the gold standard. Trains always on-time, never late for work or late getting home, except during occasional inclement weather. Now, there is an average of at least one 15 minute and sometimes a 30 minute delay every week, even during perfect weather. Conductors are pleasant and the value for the $$$ is good, but you cannot count of getting where you need to be on-time. If you are traveling outside of rush hour, just count on your train being delayed to to “signal problems”. Still, it beats driving if you’re going all the way downtown, but not worth the interminable delays midday and if you’re only traveling a few stops away.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SeekerOfGoodValueSaint Louis, MO353 contributionsI ride trains in Europe. AMTRAK is sad by comparison. My recent round trip from St. Louis to Chicago underscored two major problems. #1 Stay on Schedule. Days before leaving, the departure time was changed, then on the day of departure departure was delayed, we were sidetracked once on our way North, and twice coming South - so that freight trains could pass. Both arrival times were missed, by 40 and 60 minutes. Our plans had to change. I know passenger trains in the US must give way to freight traffic, but knowing that doesn't make it feel right. I'll probably go back to bus, or car, or SWA. #2 Issues for Seniors, mobility, and bladder-challenged travelers. How does a person with bladder issues save his place in line for 25-35 minutes before boarding when he needs to walk back 200 feet to a bathroom? And how do people with mobility or strength issues carry their bags up those very tight high rising stairs to the upper seats when lower storage space for luggage is full. The AMTRAK man a ground zero is very polite and helpful - then you are on your own. Some people (old and short) had trouble lifting larger/heavier boxes into the overhead luggage bin or later finding them. Someone from AMTRAK should be stationed on the upper deck to help with lifting bags up the stairs and into and out of the overhead bins. On my trip, some depended on the "kindness of strangers," strangers who were in as bad a shape as themselves. Bottom line: Run on time and take care of a core target group. Benefits over other modes of transport: novelity for grandkids, drink and ride, calm, photo-oportunities, card-play in the loung car- Paul Speck There are things that AMTRAK can improve.Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
