Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to the theatre to see Matt Rife! The theatre is beautiful inside. Love the paintings on the ceiling. Seats were good and comfortable

Mainly I'd like to give an update on suite service for theater goers. We chose to add this to our Sunday 1pm show (HP & the CC) because it fit our train schedule and need for a bite before the show. If you are going to have say, at least 2 beverages and a water, with seats in PROXIMITY then it's worth it. The location is the lower level of the theater and the personnel were very nice. As to the "private" bathrooms, there are 3 individual restrooms and there will be a wait. An expansive men's room is around the corner which would be ideal were it a ladies room. The selection of beverages was decent quality (a Ferrari Carano chardonnay; a Chandon bubbly) but the food was not all that. Getting there right when doors and service opens (45 min prior to show in our case), there was a tray of (good quality) vegetable focacia, a cheese tray, a lunchmeat tray and crackers. The selections were higher quality (gouda; prosciutto) but not much to it. At the intermission, which was brief, the remains were set back out with some sweets. Seats being close is important because I have to imagine this area is much busier for an evening performance (and maybe then there are better and more plentiful food selections). Having a coat closet was nice for a winter time show and there's always an attendant in room.

Who knew such a wonderful theater was tucked into the old Water Tower! We saw Lucie and Charlie’s Honeymoon and absolutely Loved It! So original. So inventive. This theatre is a hidden gem!

Went to the Lord of the Rings Play here in celebration of my daughter's 21st birthday. She is a big Lord of the Rings fan and she really had a great time! Before the show they even had specialty drinks with LOTR names. It was so cute! The play, acting and performance were all top notch and very entertaining. We had seats A19 and A20 and the views were perfect. The cast was engaging and fun! The dancing was also breathtaking! A truly amazing time!

The Goodman Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" is a must-see for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit. From the moment we stepped into the packed theater, we were greeted with warm smiles and helpful staff who guided us to our seats. The Albert Theatre itself is a sight to behold, with its stunning architecture and comfortable seating. Even in the balcony, we had a perfect view of the stage – no obstructions or craning our necks necessary!

The performance was an absolute delight. The talented cast brought the story to life with energy and emotion, making us laugh, cry, and cheer along with Scrooge's journey. The costumes and set design were intricate and beautiful, adding to the magical atmosphere. This production truly captures the essence of Christmas and reminds us of the importance of kindness and generosity. It's a show that will stay with you long after the curtain closes.

If you have the chance to see Boop! before it ends in late December, I hope you will go! I won't be surprised if this fast-paced, vibrant, outstanding show wins a Tony or two. It took me and my friends on a wonderful emotional journey, and we left feeling energized and filled with hope. The singing and dancing performance are amazing and the costumes and use of technology are incredible. Don't leave early, or you will miss a nice surprise. It's a lovely theater with attentive staff, but their handicapped accessible bathroom is in the hotel next door, which is a bit challenging. I think they were having elevator problems the day I was there, and that may have been the issue. However, their staff did a great job taking care of people with mobility issues. Highly recommend calling the Broadway in Chicago accessibility desk to get help getting accessible tickets - they know what they are doing much more than Ticket Master, etc., and they may have tickets that you will not see on other sites.

Wonderful World is the story of the life of Louis Armstrong! Although his personal life had some bad moments, but his musicality and talent was exceptional. The ensemble was sensational! Not a weak voice or dance number in the whole evening!
This was among the best productions we’ve seen this year!

We went here to see the Blue Man Group. It was a very unusual and interesting show. The people we were with didn't think it was up to the previous Blue Man show that they had seen, but we had no comparison so we thought it was a bit of fun. The theatre is very basic with scaffold style appearance. There is a small bar and a small gift shop. They are very strict about showing covid certificates and wearing masks.

The Mercury Theater is a very quaint and intimate theater. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. The sound was excellent. I attended the Women of Soul production; it was awesome.

The best spot for independent cinema in Chicago. Good balance of international, indie, and cult movies. Good atmosphere and friendly staff in a nice, walkable neighborhood.

Went to comedy and music shows at Lincoln Hall.

Terrific staff, great sightline of the stage, and excellent sound. Great bar, clean restrooms, great location. I had floor seats - far side for one show, center aisle for another.

I didn't check out the balcony, but people up there seemed happy during the shows.

Be sure to check out the Dillinger mural in the alley across the street!

My son and I saw John Cleese at The Vic and had a great time. Parking across the street is easy and the venue was perfect for the event. The old theater has personality and the staff was friendly. They had a few bars, but we didn’t have anything other than water, but surprised it was only $2 a bottle. Well done.

Sat in the stands and had a good view of the stage. The venue wasn’t the easiest to get to. The road was closed after the show and had to walk to catch an Uber. Drink prices are outrageous. $23 for a drink.
