- Millian CChicago, IL4 contributionsStopped in to see a Cubs game while on a baseball road trip. What an amazing stadium. We found it easy to get to using the Chicago L subway system. For such an old and iconic stadium it is unbelievably clean! Even the brick looks fresh. Every usher we met was friendly and helpful as well. - J EFredericksburg, VA11,746 contributionsWe have a suite here, so we stopped in to catch the Blackhawks – Ducks game. Our suite attendant was awesome! She made great suggestions and was very attentive! It was a breeze getting in and out. The view was decent, but these suites seem to be much better for hanging out and socializing than actually watching the game. The energy level was just ‘ok’… I’m from the DC area and used to the Caps, which are not only a very energetic team, but watching their games is such fun.
Getting in and out was easy. The only annoying part were all the shady taxi drivers all over asking if they can give a ride on the way out – the staff should do a better job keeping them away. Also, same with the homeless… a guy with his dog begging was very annoying and coincidently, I saw him the night before somewhere else downtown walking in traffic with that dog – I could careless about him, but someone needs to ensure the dog is taken care of, healthy, and kept safe from his odd actions. Oh, and keep the beggars away from the stadium too.

It was a Tuesday, so many food and beverage items were $5, which was great. - SteeleChicago, IL50 contributionsWhen walking, be prepared, this place is massive and impressive - and everyone leaving at one sucks!! I recently attended a concert and my o my complaint is that I had a field seat and I asked the usher check if tickets if there were concessions on the field and she said “no” and pointed me to the concessions to the left. I stood in the slowest of four lines for 40 minutes to get a water and cocktail…only to get down to the field to find multiple concessions stands with short lines - one was even at the end of my row. Traffic was a nightmare and it seemed like the traffic control individuals were just yelling at each other. Lines of people stretched for blocks at 8 am for a 10 am graduation. Turns out they were only using 2 of the 5 entrances.

Upper seats have no backs, but at halftime, if the lower seats are empty, you can move down. Could have a few more food choices,but beer is available which is a plus. - roundhead7Fairfield, CT31 contributionsFor what we paid for tickets (even with a Groupon), I felt the overall experience should have been better. We knew going in that the view of Wrigley was obstructed, we just didn't realize to what extent. Please note that you can really only see the outfield and maybe a smidge of the infield. We were visiting from out of town and went on a whim. We loved the whole energy surrounding Wrigley and people inside the Baseball Club were pumped. However, the food was just ok. I got a burger and bratwurst - both were barely warmed up. The nachos were kind of sad. Heather the bartender was wonderful though. I remember her name because we named a drink after her. Prosecco and Sprite Zero - really yummy!
I'm really glad that we were able to experience the rooftop "view" and Wrigley Field, in general, but I don't get why it had to be as expensive as it was. One of those challenges can be how to continue your workout routine when on the road (especially as a tennis player). While I don’t have specific recommendations for how to alleviate this situation in all cities, I can provide some assistance when it comes to Chicago, Illinois.
Are you looking to play some tennis while visiting Chicago in January even when the windchill is -15 degrees and the courts look like this? Well the McFetridge Sports Center offers year-round opportunities to play on their 6 indoor courts. If you’re traveling with a hitting partner their online court reservation system is relatively easy to navigate. If you’re not, private lessons, clinics, and multiple ball machines are all available to you. If you’d like a chance to “mix it up” with some of the locals while playing some Mixed Doubles, then consider reaching out to my new friend Sheila Spade. She can be reached at sheilaspade@gmail.com and if you give her about a week’s notice she may be able to get you connected with the group that she organizes. I found every person in her group to be welcoming and enjoyable to play with!
All of the costs associated with your choice of play here are reasonable and a traditional membership at this facility is not required.
The courts are well maintained and the facility is only about a 15 minute drive from most downtown hotels. While I found the staff here to be mostly disinterested in the concept of “customer service”, if you can limit your interactions with them you should be fine.

Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Mary SSan Marcos, CA129 contributionsI had purchased two tickets to attend this rooftops' James Taylor concert. I was not really aware of what the experience would look like or be like, so I did search on Trip Advisor for information. Unfortunately, I only got depressed reading what was available. So, I wanted to update everyone on this experience. They let you in thirty minutes prior to the concert. I was first in line. Getting in was not a problem. I just had to show my ticket and my ID. I quickly walked up to the very top, as I figured that I would get the best view from there. Based on past reviews, I knew that the right field Jumbotron would block any view of the field/stadium. In addition, I guess I was not totally surprised that I couldn't see the front of the stage, either. The stage was in centerfield almost all the way back to the wall/bleachers. The sides were canvassed as was the back of the stage. All I could see was the side...which was completely covered. I could see the first seven rows of people on the field. That was about it. For this particular performance, there was nothing projected on the big left field Jumbotron and of course, there was nothing shown on the television screens at this venue. So, do not go to this rooftop in hopes of seeing your favorite artist. The sound was okay....we were able to hear Bonnie Rait pretty clearly. The drinks were good. They had several different brands of beer on tap, six different types of wine and two different flavors of frozen margaritas! You were only allowed one drink at a time. You could not get a drink for your friend. For food, there was a hamburger, a veggie burger, a chicken sandwich, nachos, elotes, a pasta salad and a strawberry salad. The line for food could be long, but there were three very efficient workers managing the area, so it was not so bad. You were allowed two different items per visit. We had terrific weather and sat on this very comfortable couch. On the very top level, there were tall tables with high seated chairs, some stadium seating and some standing room. On the level just below the rooftop was where they served the food. There was seating available, but I did not check that area out. On the floor below that, there was indoor seating and a bar....but for this concert, no one was using that area. There were television screens at this level and they were showing the Chicago Cubs game. When we left, we asked the guy at the door how many people had bought tickets for the rooftop this evening and he said 200 and that 180 people had shown up. We did not feel like it was over crowded, we were able to enjoy some great drinks and some pretty good food. There were washrooms on the top level and on the level two floors below (the one with the indoor seating). Never had to wait for a restroom...and they were kept clean. The only thing we did not enjoy was the view. As much as we love James Taylor...and his music was good...not being able to see him or anything that they were showing on the two screens connected to the stage as well as the screen behind the band (we had friend who were inside the park who told us that) made the evening disappointing. I feel like this venue should be more forthcoming on what you are likely to see or not see as well as hear.
So, if you just want to hang with your friends, enjoy unlimited wine, draft beer and food, and listen to your favorite group (and also get a good price via Groupon)....give it a try. If you want to see your favorite artist...and pay a lot of money for food and drink...then you need to be inside the park!
