Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worth a visit for a meal in the Walnut Room and a peek at the Tiffany ceiling. No contemporary store offers this type of classic grandeur.

Native Chicagoans, like me, remember when State State in downtown Chicago was known as The Great Street, before there was a Magnificent Mile on the north side of the Chicago River. It was the street of Marshall Field's, the Chicago Theater, the Palmer House and Carson, Pirie, Scott and Company. Today, Carson's is known as the Sullivan Center, a 943,944-square-foot, three-building complex that houses the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and national retailer Target. Located at 1 South State Street, at the corner of East Madison Street, the structure is mostly known for its architecture. It was designed by Louis Sullivan in 1899 for a retail firm. Another famous architect, Daniel Burnham, also did work on the building. It is remarkable for its steel-framed construction, which allowed a dramatic increase in window area created by bay-wide windows, which in turn allowed for the greatest amount of daylight into the building interiors. The design was the first use of what became known as the Chicago window. At street level, the broad expanses of glass allowed for larger displays of merchandise to outside pedestrian traffic, creating the idea of the sidewalk showcase. Sullivan designed the unique corner entry to be seen from both State and Madison. The attractive ornamentation above the entrance gave the store an elegant and unique persona important to the building's competition with neighboring stores, including Marshall Field's. It was designated a Chicago Landmark and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1975.

Block 37 has been getting busier in Summer 2023: new stores open, new services are being added, several fast- and quick food cafes and stands are now open on different levels of the mall. The mall Directory has been updated (Food Fashion Films), Customer Service Desk has also been quite helpful, giving the accurate info on various businesses in the mall.

One of the innovative entertainment features in Block 37 is the holographic theater Verse Immersive (Level 1), that opened to public in spring 2023, making the augmented reality available to public.

I always enjoy spending some time in Block 37: there are various clothing stores, cosmetics shops, factory stores, AMC Dine-in Theatres (Level 4), there are many spacious, well appointed rest areas, and clean restrooms. The mall looks fresh and modern!

Block 37 is located in the center of Theatre District in Chicago Loop; there are many other shops and nice restaurants in this area.

In town for a couple hours to scout out a site for future job and killed an hour in this cigar shop. Guys there know their stuff, directed me to cigars I like and turned me onto a couple new ones. Prices are good, and I smoked one in the shop. I go to cigar shops around the country and this is a good one.

Great selection. Looks like great effort out into keeping vol 1 of manga series or TPBs in stock. Friendly staff. Very happy to have stumbled across the store,

It is a very modern store, greatly designed, perfectly lighted, if not a bit cramped with merchandise. The location of the Blackhawks Store at 335 N Michigan is superb (right next to Fannie May), the entrance is from N Michigan - and then you go up to the 2nd floor.

I liked the various memorabilia displays and videos on huge screens of the Blackhawks games. It adds certain cultural knowledge to standard shopping activities. The collection of bright and cute clothing for kids (of all ages) was very nicely presented; however, the store is not that big for what they offer. And prices are high - over a hundred dollars for an adult-size jersey.

Well, we now live in the world of sports that not only invites us to stay fit and healthy , but also introduces fashion lines and trendy sports clothing for everybody.

Not sure what comes first :) But I plan to be back!

I had a great experience buying a couple of gem stones from Joe. He and his staff were kind and helpful, and helped me choose beautiful stones according to my price range. He even gave me an additional discount. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in Chicago.

We took the private architecture tour of Chicago Private Tours and Productions on 11/22/19. Stevie did not disappoint. His depth of knowledge and storytelling ability made us feel like Al Capone himself was in the Empire room with us. We learned about the history and saw the interiors of the most amazing buildings while being driven to the curb by chauffeur Carmela. Learned about the history of skyscrapers, Union Stock Yard, the World’s Fair in 1893 and it was so interesting that I bought “The Devil and the White City” for the plane ride home. Stevie even added a quick stop at Harry Carey’s so we could see the secret underground tunnel to the courthouse - used at a time when corruption reigned in the city. This tour was my favorite part of the weekend in Chicago and I highly recommend.
