Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It's a nice, shallow area. I'm not sure if that's usual or not. My 2 year old was able to walk out all the way to the "No swimming beyond this point" sign because it was so shallow. It was also weird there were no waves. My kids enjoyed using their snorkels to look at fish and a crab under the water. It also has a nice, small playground and covered picnic tables.

We had a great time kayaking. They took us to the dropoff, got us in the water, and pulled us out and drove us back at the end. Nice guys that helped us; twins and Dave were great.

Pretty good trip. We brought our own kayaks. There were kayak carts provided for porting from the parking lot to the launch area, nice touch. Really nice guys working at the pick-up spot and driving the return van.
Only negative observation is that the girl at the check in counter would not or could not point out the pick up spot on a map I brought up on my phone, nor do they have any maps showing that in the reception or their web site for that matter. You won't see anything on Google maps either, their road to that spot is not shown. Yes, after the fact I am well aware the pick up spot has adequate signage but I did not know that going in.

I'm a senior with bad knees. I can't safely use the plastic kayak chutes that are being installed almost everywhere now for kayak entry & exit. My knees just aren't healthy enough to let me rise up from a flat surface, and the one time I tried with assistance, it didn't feel safe, and my knee hurt for a couple of days.

I made a kayaking date with Weeki Wachee Kayaking, and then showed up and explained my problem. I am SO grateful that I did:

William said, "Our goal is to do whatever we have to do to get you in the water."

    Then, he LISTENED!

They actually found a way to get me into the water which was safe and easy for me, but required more work from them.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful, their equipment was good, and getting back on the Weeki Wachee felt like coming home.

I can't recommend them highly enough.

PS - In case it might help someone else with bad knees, here's my preferred technique: for years I've been able to enter my kayak by placing it on a ramp or dirt engry tilted toward the water, straddling the kayak in a standing position, and then bending my knees until they "let" me drop into the seat. When I exit, I position the kayak in water about hip high, carefully swing my legs over the side, and step down on to the river bottom. I can then walk out up the ramp, pulling my kayak.

They had everything we could have needed to get out on the water in a fun and safe manner. They are very knowledgeable and hospitable and took time to find out what we wanted out of our trip and offered guidance on how to do that.
They made our family paddle a truly amazing experience!!
    Thank you Pam and Jerry!!!

Fantastic kayak experience. Got there before noon. Paid $45 and could keep the tandem kayak until 5pm. Free parking was available. Staff helped us launch and provided us with necessary equiptment. The water was amazingly clear and warm. We did not see a manatee that day, but would go again and have recommended it to many.

We took a charter boat out with a local named Captain Gary & his son. We saw where the Weeki Wachee river empties into the Gulf of Mexico, an eagle, a dead otter, 2 manatees, and Hospital hole which used to be a spring but is now an over 100 ft sink hole. This was a great way to spend our time in the area. We also went through the river and saw all the neat homes. There were plenty of people swimming and having a good time.

Definitely a well knowledged Captain and First Mate, Very satisfied with our trip, and great sportsmanship, and honestly after fishing so many years in St.Pete/Tampa bay area and always doing so good down there. And then moving up to Brooksville, I was beginning to lose hope in Hernando's fishing. Lol. But going out on Salty D's Charters, for an christmas present, changed my mind after us 3 limiting out on groupers and a good amount of Grunts. Definitely puts you on the fish! And for a great price! Highly recommend!

If you have seen enough Disney, come to a unique and interesting bit of old Florida! Mays fish camp is on the mud river, adjacent to the Weeki Wachee springs river. We stopped in for rain gear after a torrential downpour! We were grateful for the fear and helpful attitude of the very professional staff attendant. She gave us good information about the preservation efforts in the area, as well s the cabins, camping abs fishing! The pouring rain was not conducive to pictures, so we hope to return so we can share more!

We rented a small boat for our family to explore Weeki Wachee River. Check-in and check-out is very quick and easy. The boat was perfect for covering more distance in less time. Highly recommend
