Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I just love Cedar Key. It is a sleepy little coastal town. Shell Mound was an excellent campground!

We enjoyed birding around town, the museum, and the Local Artists Guild.

Plenty of i formation regarding sights to visit while on Cedar Key. They have a cute little display of some of the sea-life in the area. It is a good place to start your visit.

The museum is open Thursday to Sunday. $3.00 admission for adults, kids under 12 free. Learn how the cedar tree played a role in putting Cedar Key on the map. Cedar trees created the wooden pencils in Germany and America, the palm helped the whisk brooms. And some of the homes during that time where moved inland and one of them is now part of the museum.

I had two days of free time after a business trip to Orlando. This was the best thing I did in those two days. I drove the loop and loved it. Speed limit is 15 mph and I suggest going slower and keeping you eyes wide open. When you spot something just pull over and watch for a while. Can't under stand people saying they didn't see wildlife. It is everywhere if you look. I saw alligators and turtles, lots of beautiful dragonflies and butterflies, flowers and bees, egrets and hawks, and of course there is the whole landscape and the river to admire via a boardwalk.

The loop is around 10 miles but I took more than 2 hours to make my way around and enjoyed it hugely. I was thoroughly chilled out by the end and found a bit of Florida to love.

This was my favorite thing to do in Cedar Key. It's a decent park with diverse options including - who knew - a disc golf course (short, small, but good for your intermediate and short game). The views of the mango-ey Gulf were very nice. There is a little birding area. A cemetery next door added a lot to my experience. It's always great considering your own mortality. I found graves from people born before the Civil War.

You don't have to stay at the campground to fish there. Nice pier - peaceful and scenic. Everyone was friendly. Once the morning breeze died down, it got hot. We almost put up a canopy. Will definitely go again!

The clams and oysters were outstanding ! We wheeled our cooler in and they filled it up and packed them with ice. The oysters and clams were probably the best I have ever had. The salt content in the oysters was second to none. Stop and load up when you leave Cedar Key, you won't regret it.

I loved the vibe of this store. Very nice artwork as well as some more reasonably priced items. I would say something for everyone.

If you go to Cedar Key and you miss, stopping at the Turtle Trail Art Gallery, you’ve missed the best artist from Cedar Key. Nancy’s stories alone are amazing! She is seventh generation! We purchased a carved pelican made out of cedar, a piece of cedar that she planted as a child during Arbor Day. Most of her carvings are made from trees that she embraced growing up. Her photographs that she takes are fantastic! My sense is many people miss this great spot as it is just outside of the town on the other side of the canal. Still within walking distance from the main part of Cedar Key. A lovely person, and a great artist!

Nice walking trail with plants and trees identified and explained. Nice place to go for learning about vegetation. Views of mangrove swamps and open water too.

Took a pontoon boat ride for 1 1/2 hours to several Islands.
Saw plenty of Dolphins jumping near our boat the whole time.
Great restaurant at Steelers. Great novelty shops
