Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- David P20 contributionsBarefoot beach is one of several public beaches in Collier County. however, it was badly damaged in Hurricane Ian 2022 and still has some infrastructure issues. There are two car parks there and you pay by scanning QR code ( about ten dollars) the cafe and changing facilities are currently closed, but temporary toilets available.Written 14 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - perrypickerign243 contributionsDocs and Bonita Springs is a wonderful beach. Not too crowded, decent food right there on the beach, white sand and parasailing, paddle boards, Kayaks and Jet skis all right there for rental. People are generally very relaxed and friendly. The only down side is there is limited parking available ad during Spring Break traffic can be difficult.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Prfct_Fan_Food_SrvcBirmingham, MI1,712 contributionsWhen on a leisurely trip, it's neat to spend time with nature. During my recent trip, I enjoyed a kayak tour that included Little Hickory Island.
We arrived via kayak to the island. Our guide provided us with a lot of information about this location, including the differences between low tide and high tide.
It's a great spot to gather sea shells.
Very cool spot.Written 18 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was great to see all the dogs and people perusing the beach, especially after two long years of Covid. It was alot of fun.Written 12 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dennis FFort Myers, FL364 contributionsAny place that's been around for over 85 years has had its ups and downs. We were there several years ago and clearly see this place is on a strong upward move. New exhibits are being built to expand the already-broad areas of animal and botanical specimens. It's well worth a visit and will leave you wanting to return.Written 1 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Donna MNaples, Florida, United States4 contributionsMy favorite stores are open again. Many are closed but plenty are OPEN. Lots of fun browsing on Sunday.
Clean and aisles are marked for social distancing. Everyone wearing masks. I felt safe.

It is beautiful beach and my dog loved there but there are no chairs to sit for older people or shower, bathrooms near by. When it is higher tide you have to walk and go around the bushes to get there.Written 19 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sharon BBonita Springs, FL9 contributionsWent for the 4th of July celebration and it was awesome. Lots of families. Entertainment was great. Fireworks were spectacular. Small town feel with a big impact. The only issue I could see people were having was that their wasn't enough restrooms and the line was very long.Written 11 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - nursekathyiVirginia Beach, VA35 contributionsWell maintained trail along the Imperial River. The main trail is made up of crushed sea shells so, while it is flat, it would difficult for a wheelchair or stroller to navigate along the path. My 84 yr old father had no trouble walking it. It took us less than an hour for the whole trail which included stops along the way.Written 25 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gschleifferEstero, FL1,310 contributionsYes it gets very crowded. The vendors are pretty good. Fresh fruit and vegetables. You can get fresh bagels by out of New York bagels, Doug’s has a seafood stand selling fresh fish and lobster rolls, Greek and Italian food is also available. Can be a fun morning but parking is tight and it does get crowded.Written 23 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joan D1 contributionGreat store for jewelry, lots of sterling and home decor and my favorite, Antiques. Much variety and clean and organizedWritten 8 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- podrozniczka60New Jersey16,812 contributionsThis is yet another nature preserve under the care of CREW, not as fascinating as the CREW bird rookery but - interestingly - now newly connected to that preserve by a long trail. There are three parking lots giving the good access to trails in Flint Pen. The main parking lot provides good information and maps.
Crew Flint Pen Trail is a 1.6 mile loop trail. There are 4 trails besides and you can combine the routes. Walking here is very pleasant and simple. We did not see nearly as many interesting birds or other animals as in the rookery but it is good to have yet another hiking destination in Bonita Springs.
Depending on the the season some trails may be wet.
There is also a lake area, good for bird watching. One of the parking lots is here.
The Purple trail is open and connects the CREW Flint Pen Strand trails to the CREW Bird Rookery Swamp trail.Written 4 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
