Interesting museum albeit it needs some maintenance as many of the displays didn’t work. Nice park to just walk around. Museum doesn’t open until 10am albeit the park opens much earlier
Be careful that you don’t overpay after Oct 1 as the parking rate should decrease to only $5 but the machines still list $10.

Positives: Excellent ski runs; well groomed slopes; plenty of terrain; modern lifts; not too crowed on weekdays/non-holidays.
Negatives: The village is somewhat sterile. Not many decent walkable bars, restaurants for après ski. Truckee is good but requires a drive. The lift lines can be chaotic, especially for a single when they do not have a staff member trying to regulate the que. Aggressive behavior is rewarded when getting on the lifts when there is no staff to control.
Compared the Heavenly, it is easier to navigate the ski runs & it is less crowded. Heavenly has better views & better eating/drinking options walkable from the base.

Donner Pass is historic on three levels and scenic at every level. As I drove up the mountain I tried to imagine how difficult it must have been for the pioneers in ox or mule-drawn wagons. The tragedy of the Donner Party does not negate the many sucessful crossings both before and after them. The second level of history concerns the transcontinental railroad that bound America together from coast to coast. The third level is Old Route 40 that makes the scenery so accessible. The Rainbow Bridge is almost as much art as it is an engineering marvel. The lookout is spectacular regardless of whether you are looking up at the rocky summit or down at the lake. For us the pass was both a destination and a doorway into the past.

The crew at Donner Lake Marina are truly wonderful, and the boats/equipment are top notch. We made a fairly major error in scheduling, and they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The kids and adults had a blast on the lake. Looking forward to seeing them next year!

My wife, SIL and I decided to take a day trip to Truckee from Fernley NV the Saturday after Christmas. There was just a touch of snow on the ground, but the surrounding mountains had a nice covering. Enjoyed the Truckee History Museum. And walking down the main drag was nice, especially with all the various vendors. We got there early so no issues with parking. But leaving was a bit of a challenge as traffic getting to the interstate was a mess.

Plan to go back in the summer to walk the old railroad right of way and through the snow seds.

This is a convenient resort for winter sports. It is right on I-80 and much closer than Lake Tahoe in driving time. It's a big basic slope with groomed experiences and lifts and a big parking lot. Icy on the day I was there.

One of the popular ski areas in the Donner Pass part of Lake Tahoe region. Lots of trails and ski lifts and it's well-managed.

We hiked to Martis Peak from Brockway Summit on 267 just outside King City, North Lake Tahoe. It was a fairly nice hike through the forest and then through a meadow. The trail is listed as moderate, and I would list it as easy-moderate, for the most part. Towards the end of the hike, we passed a parking lot and then had to walk up a paved road to get to the peak. At the peak, is a picnic table, an outhouse, and the look out. Inside the look out, there are drawings with names of all the peaks on that side of the look out, which was very nice - as you could see the name of what you were looking at. Unfortunately, the day we were there, the smoke from the wild fires had blown in and we barely saw any of the view - it was that hazy. We would definetly do this hike again, once the fire danger/smoke is well gone, as we'd really like to see the view - it has got to be fantastic.

I ski N* in winter. Took my 9 yr old grandson mountain biking for first time. This place is for experienced bikers but first timers can have fun too if you take it easy.. Go for the full gear rental to be safe. We only did green runs- there are two. The blues are pretty hard for first timers.
The EPIC pass is use less. The prices are pretty high but they have great terrain and great gear. For the price I wish more lifts were running. I would have liked to get up to Mt Pluto and did the east ridge trail. Get there early. I did a full day pass; half day pass is less but does not start until 2 pm.
