Nice place. Historic. Informative. Great for families. $12 entry. Near Placerville, about a 15 minute drive up a hill through a residential area.

The site consists of a real gold mine shaft visitors can tour with an audio you download to your phone. The tour lasts about 30 min and leads into the cold, well-lit mine shaft. It explains the features of the mine, the mining process, and the dangers of mining, including how explosives were used. The mine dead ends about 150ft later and visitors turn around and walk back to the entrance. I'd recommend visiting during the week to avoid large crowds.

I spent about 2 hours here on a Thursday afternoon in October, and during that time, I saw maybe 8 other visitors. In the museum, visitors can pay $12 to tour the mine and park. Visitors are required to wear the provided hard hat inside the mine. I believe the park is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

The museum is small, but contained nice displays and informative signs. Just outside the museum and mine are two long troughs with water and gravel for visitors who wish to learn how to pan for gold.

Visitors can drive 1 mile up the paved road to the stamp mill and blacksmith shops for live explanations and demonstrations by volunteers. Definitely worth the stop.

There is also a nature trail which leads around the large park and to the Priest Mine entrance, which is only accessible with a reservation for a guided group tour.

Could be FANTASTIC but a nice hotel with average service. I am really torn as to how many stars to give this place as it is beautiful but the owners are relying too much on the looks of the property and are weak on the details.

The room is beautiful. The property smells new, and lacks any cigarette smoke odor. The air is so fresh I could tell the carpet was new in the room I was in even though they have been opened for eight months now. The bathroom has a large sink with quartz countertops, a backlit mirror, walk in shower with glass door and large shower head and is easily big enough to accommodate two. The closet was small but there was so much storage space in the room you will easily have more than enough storage. A easily 46” if not larger TV, with high speed internet with excellent signal, king size bed (in my room) with chaise lounge and panoramic windows.

The first thing I was surprised by was that they do not provide daily maid service. The room is only serviced, every third day or at checkout. As I only stayed for two nights, I cannot comment on the service of the housekeeps but as far as property maintenance in my room there was grout missing from between some of the tiles in the shower. There was no bag or tags for laundry service, nor was there a bag with additional pillows or linens which I often use as usually I find the rooms too cold and like more pillows than is customarily provided.

The Hotel offers no room service although there are several restaurants, and with food quality that was ok, not good but edible. The only exception was the Garlic Fire in the Apex Grill were smothered with garlic and Parmesan which I enjoyed some of my friends found them to be too garlicky.

I used the pool and spa while at the resort and there was black mold growing in the spa. No towels are provided at the pool and spa which for the image the property is attempting to portray reflects as poorly. In addition something that I found unacceptable was one of the managers kept, looking at my friend and I and was hiding out behind a wall like she was trying to listen in on the conversation. After several minutes, she left but was replaced by another staff member like she had asked them to take her place. Granted it was March and there was no one at the pool but this was at 1 PM not late at night and clearly within the open hours of the area. If the manager had a question or concern approaching me and making small talk is much preferable than making me so uncomfortable I left.

My stay was enjoyable overall but I have concerns as to the maintenance and how clean and sanitized the property will remain when maid service including the basics like vacuuming are not occurring daily. Bottom line whether or not I would stay again depends mainly on the rate. Given the level of hotel services I personally would not pay over $99 a night, as although the property looks beautiful it lacks the extras that make a 4 star type of hotel a joy to stay at.

Lived in El Dorado County for years, always enjoyed visiting Boa Vista, they are open all year long, fun during the Cherry season, but especially during the fall…I live in San Diego, but I still order their apple jelly, Apple cinnamon sauce that I pour over my apple pies, and apple strudel…incredible…absolutely love this place…

Our ANNUAL trek to Apple Hill always starts at High Hill ranch. The apple fritters are worth standing in line....this year the young girl who waited on us looked like she had a cold, did not smile, and acted like she wanted to be home in bed not selling fritters/donuts. And HUGE frustration at The Fudge Factory. I'm sorry...but I've never had a good experience there. Go elsewhere for fudge.

We made another trip to Eldorado National Forest. This is a huge forest area in the Sierras, There is great places to hike, snow play in winter, camp, picnic, or find a nice place to stay. There are also good restaurants. One can also find wildlife.

We were visiting from N.C. We’ve been to wineries but never in Ca. We were limited on time on our visit and wanted to go to 2 wineries near Sacramento. We picked Boeger because it just happened to be opened early and would accommodate my husband and myself without an appointment. After reading on social media groups how Napa wineries are so high end and tend to be snooty we were a little expectant of that type of experience in Placerville too.. To my pleasant surprise we couldn’t have picked any better! The wines were excellent. We loved everything we tasted. Our tasting host was informative and genuinely pleased to talk with us and share his knowledge of the wines and overall history of the place. It was a wonderful experience and if ever there again we’ll be back! We took a few bottles home to NC with us and we’re enjoying them now. ❤️

So glad we found this place! Loved the setting and frankly these wines beat any of the still wines we sampled in Napa. We shipped 6 bottles home we enjoyed them so much. John did a great job walking us through the tasting and we had some yummy Brie to go with the tasting. I’d say if you’re planning a wine trip to CA, put this one on your do not miss list.

This Farm distinguishes itself by letting you see apple production, sorting in person, and allowing photos. It also has good prices and a great History Museum of the area, a giant water wheel and picnic area. I saw a lovely Pyranees dog getting loved on by 4 small children at once .

The master gardeners of Placerville have compiled a collection of lovely gardens that delight the eye with good design principles while demonstrating garden techniques and showcasing plants that work in the California foothills. We had a pre-arranged tour with one of the master gardeners so we learned a great deal although the gardens can be enjoyed without a guide. It would be a fantastic place to start planning your own garden.

My favorite place to buy fresh or frozen pie. What I really like is they ate not too sweet. Some have no added sugar & rely just on great fruit. There’s a cute gift shop too— you can even make own bath bombs. Also live their no sugar added apple sauce which is hard to find anymore. Gluten free pie as well— also tough to find. Great new addition— flavored coffee flights. Not cheap at $10– but great late morning stop after cider doughnuts at another favorite
