Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Vicki SSydney, Australia4 contributionsLoved this beach a Fantastic place to swim and relax.
Relaxed on sun bed’s drinking a frappe and eating a meal. Will definitely visit Gytheio again and visit this beach.Written 18 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark6,223 contributionsThe Lighthouse on the small island in front of Gythio is easy accessible on foot - it takes 10 minutes.
The Lighthouse is picturesque, but you can’t get close as it is navy property. Never mind, turn around and walk back - and now you will discover the beautiful views to the city. Even more picturesque!
The small island itself consists of pleasant nature - locals go picnic there.Written 8 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The town itself has a Roman background, with baths and an ancient theater in its central area. It is worth a short visit.Written 10 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Caterina CNea Erithraia, Greece55 contributionsperfect location as it encompasses a long, sandy beach, the view of a wreck on a beach, a nice restaurant and beach bar (no music which is an asset) and beach beds with a mattress on an elevated level which allows viewing the entire areaWritten 28 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shunt0Laconia Region, Greece27 contributionsAn amazing adventure by e bike from Karvelas, Vathy or Gythio along the sun drenched coastline through the olive and orange fields to the isolated farm at Biohof Karababas. Pristine surroundings thrive due to the nurturing spirit of the owners and their dedication to clean, organically grown olives, grapes and other greens of the South Peloponnese region. With convenient shipping and delivery world wide you can take a taste of Greece home with you. They host daily tours in the summer and welcome travellers from around the world in German, Greek and English! When in Gythio or the South Peloponnese you should take a day trip to this slice of heaven.Written 29 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ylc25Markham, Canada954 contributionsWalked here from cruise port. Fenced off so you cannot go in. If you are close by just walk and take a look, but nothing special.Written 23 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian PAppleton, WI53 contributionsI had the lager and their West Coast IPA and both are among the better beers that I have had while in Greece. Their beer is only available by the case from the brewery or in restaurants in the Peloponnese in 500 or 330ml bottles. The brewery is 20 minutes south of Sparta and they don't have a taproom or do tours so only go here if you intend to buy some beer. I went out and spoke with the owner - really nice people trying to make fresh local beer.Written 12 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark6,223 contributionsThis tiny castle - and the lighthouse on the small island outside Gythos - is easily accessible on foot. 10 minutes and you are there.
Unfortunately both sights are closed to the public, but you can shoot a couple of nice photos from the outside.
But even better - the views to the citys are amazing from out here.Written 8 August 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tower today houses the museum of Mani, make sure to visit!Written 18 February 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We also bought 1 kilo of diples to take home.
