Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- vanessakeeslarFallbrook, CA1 contributionI am in love with this gallery and the people in it. Johnathan Patterson's artwork is unique, beautiful and representative of every animal I saw while in this incredible country. Just a side note, I purchased three prints and prayed I could get them home in one piece. On the 45th hour of my journey, I accidentally put a water bottle in the same compartment with the prints and damaged one of them. I e-mailed Johnathan to see if I could purchase a replacement, and not only did he send me a new one, he didn't charge me for it, indicating that he would be happy to replace if for free if I could pay the shipping costs. This was very unexpected and much appreciated. He also does commission work from photos you may have taken while on safari. Thank you Johnathan!Written 11 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marylene SMaputo, Mozambique611 contributions...unfortunately a bit out of the way! This complex houses lots of interesting things to see, buy, experience, eat or drink...but is located on a calm road outside Hoedspruit. And when you cross the gate, you still have to drive on a rather long dirt road in the middle of the bush before you reach the shopping center. Once there you may discover small boutiques with a great selection of arts and crafts, a day spa with organic cosmetics for sale, silk products, 2 restaurants and the highlight of the center: a rich showroom with vintage cars and motorbikes. It is worth a visit if you happen to be in the neighborhood, e.g. in the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Center or Forest Lodge.Written 4 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - annieonthemove4 contributionsThe most wonderful spa, in conjunction with the game drives, wonderful food, beautiful surroundings and first class service, this is just a luxurious added extra. Treated myself to a massage one day and a facial the next. The best I've ever had. So fantastic, cannot rate the therapist, Buhle highly enough. She was amazing.Written 15 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

We approached Wandering Thru for help with a last minute spontaneous trip when our other agent was not able to find room at Londolozi for us to match our dates. The service provided by Ale was exceptional and she went above and beyond to ensure our requirements were met. We were thrilled and delighted at the trip she put together for us. The personal touch and attention to detail was impressive and we have amazing memories that will last a lifetime.
Ale also came to our aid whilst in South Africa we experienced distressing unethical practice by Darren at Elephant Plains- a monitor lizard was forcibly dragged out of a bush by the tail and manhandled and on other occasions animal noises were played to keep Lion/wild dogs on the traverse. When challenged we were told this was educational and acceptable on safari
I have to stress this was booked through a different agent and NOT Wandering Thru. Ale responded to our literal call for help out of business hours and had us on our way to a new safari lodge within a matter of hours. We will forever be grateful to Ale and everyone at Wandering Thru for their commitment to high levels of service, knowledge, experience and great connections within the industry that meant they could come to our rescue immediately and provide an alternative so the rest of the holiday wasn’t ruined.
If things go wrong- Wandering Thru was like having an emergency service in our back pocket they can handle any disaster and save the day. When you’re in Africa a long way from home this is exactly what you need.
We look forward to planning more safari trips with them.Written 3 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He recommended his Big Cat Safari. I didn’t believe he could just produce a leopard like that but he convinced me he could do it. And did he EVER. We stayed at Manyeleti Game Reserve and Elephant Plains game reserve. The weather during our Manyeleti stay was simply horrible with high winds, rain and low temperatures. HOWEVER our game viewing was fantastic including a Wild Dogs kill and a hyena showing up to try and steal the impala. And a young lion calling his pride since somehow he became lost. He was at most 20 yds away for over 45 min. EVERY SINGLE DAY was an adventure. And the food was fabulous.
Now the Elephant Plains part was simply so FANTASTIC it can’t be put into words. The weather cleared the sun came out and in 4 days we saw a total of 21 lions and 8 leopards doing all the things these big cats do. From lazing around and sleeping to mating to drinking at waterholes to hunting to guarding an elephant kill to mating to glaring to calling their fellow pride members to mating and on and on. Our driver Darren continuously put us in position to get that ONCE IN A LIFE TIME shot of the LEOPARD GLARE. I think I have 10 once in a lifetime shots. We had leopards 3 feet away right next to our car and a herd of elephants walked so close I could have touched them from my seat in the vehicle. Extraordinary is the only word that comes to mind. This was my 10th trip to Africa and it’s the FIRST time I wasn’t ready to come home. Every day was different. Every day was a new surprise. And if after you read this you don’t sign up right now? You’ll be sorry the rest of your life. I’ll be back in 2026.
And Armand. If you are ever short one person ? Give me a call.Written 23 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Being the first time that I had left the country I was quite nervous but the support provided by Erin and Heather was second to none! The sightings that we saw over the 10 days was phenominal! Lions, leopard, wild dog, elephants and crocodile just to name a few. The individual knowledge of Erin and Heather is outstanding but there knowledge together was immense! You could ask any question and not feel stupid! The lodges chosen were amazing, the food was out of this world! I have never tasted food as good! The tour was a mixture of relaxing and safaring, from early morning starts to watching the sun go down. I can't begin to thank you enough for how amazing this tour is! I now use my landela safaris water bottle and mug every day! Five stars is simply not enough to describe the experience!
You're enthusiasm and passion is infectious and I can't wait to get back to South Africa!Written 16 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Due to car trouble, our original 7 nights were cut short by 1 and it is still a disappointment.
It’s been a tough year for us all and getting away and continuing our yearly travel adventures was much needed for my family. Twiga allowed us to escape from reality in a safe and beautiful way. As a family, we remained in our bubble of 4, leaving at 5 or 6am to see the sites of this beautiful part of SA without having to be in large crowds and endangering ourselves or others. Twiga travel gave us the freedom to have a restful holiday in a safe, clean, private environment and it ticked all the boxes.
I thank Elize, her hubby and Betty for giving this family of 4 a beautiful and peaceful holiday. As we pack up today and head back to Durban, it’s a sad goodbye in that the chaos of all that is happening around the world will become a reality once again. Thank you for giving us an escape from it allWritten 27 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
