Great place for a family. The boardwalk great for anyone on wheels. I walk this often. But see elder person's on ride ons, Mums with prams or little one on trikes with trainer wheels

Really enjoyed our visit. Loved the freedom of being able to walk around and see, pat and fee's the animals. My daughter especially loved seeing the caterpillars in the butterfly farm.

    What an incredible experience !

If you are interested in Maori culture, history, and art this is one of the must-do experiences in the South Island. You can only do it in Timaru.

Our guide, Sue was great as she took time to explain the displays in the Te Ana Rock Art Centre and answer everyone's questions. What was equally impressive was her ability to put everything into context both in the past when the rock art was being created and also for current members of Ngai Tahu.

My wife loved that Sue was from one of the local runanga and how authentic the experience felt.

After the Rock Art Centre, we went out to a significant rock art site which is on private farm land. The rock art was stunning and provoked a lot of discussion between Sue and the visitors including us. The surrounding landscape which is being restored with native plants was equally beautiful. It was a humbling experience to experience such a beautiful and complex art work out in the New Zealand countryside.

If you have time, put this trip in your itinerary you won't regret it.

Lots of displays and activities catering for a wide range of ages. Activities kept children interested and involved and they were learning even when they didn't know it. Good to see new displays. Somewhere to spend a little time or a lot.

We decided to drive through the park as we left Timaru. There are plenty of walking tracks in this long green park, along with mountain bike tracks. Infact there was a mountain bike event runnung in the park as we drove through.

This was another beautiful Cantabrian Botanic Gardens that I could visit last March. The scene was smiling upon the autumn day when I visited and there were perennials out in luxuriant bloom. The landscaping of the verges and the whole aspect of the Gardens were delightful indeed.

I love visiting here in blueberry season. I have been 3 times this season. Once with youngest grandson and twice by myself. You can eat while picking which I always do. The blueberries are delicious..sprayfree. .the best. Great thing to do with kids.

A wonderful few hours spent viewing the current shows and a small but perfect selection of art from the galleries own collection. A wander round the stunning sculpture garden was completed by enjoying the view from a very comfy beanbag. Staff were welcoming and knowledge - many thanks indeed. I will definitely be back when the main house is reopened :)

Be aware that access is now temporarily, from either the south side of theroad bridge on King street (head east toward the sea.)

    Or
you can walk to the track from the public carpark on Collins St. Go across the large field sea-ward, and follow the gravel walking track. Then, after about 10 mins, cross the timber foot bridge. From here you can go onto beach for a look or carry on across the boardwalk and around the wetland, There are nice places to sit and even a picnic table on the highest part of the track with a great view on the south side of the creek. Its an easy walk with only slight uphill parts.

Absolutely beautiful Church. On a main road so easy to find. A must see when visiting Timaru. Love the interior of the church and the windows. It’s a lot bigger than it looks from the road

Lovely building and worth a visit to see it. The lady who served me was friendly. Small but good souvenir shop. Very close to some good restaurants at the bottom of Stafford Street.

Serendipity has a wide range of interesting, curious items and antiques. The range is very good and the pricing is reasonable. You will be able to find something you didn't know you were looking in the collection that is spread across two rooms. I love this shop and always walk away with something every time I pass through Timaru.

Last visited in 2014. Entry price for kids has risen from $3.50 to $4 and still $4 for the slides. Great value!
10 year old had a fantastic time in the pool, on the slides and diving from the platform and springboard - both which were well supervised / managed by staff.

Lots of funky things and I spent a long time in there. Have to mention I do have quite a few of their things which I purchased significantly cheaper in K Mart though!! Not the cheapest shop but definitely worth a look around.
