Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Have to walk down steep path between sand dunes which is marked. Cannot deviate into the sand dunes to protect wild life. Soft sandy path requires care especially as you reach the bottom. Beautiful beach with sea lions. Fur seals seen on the rocks. No penguins as we visited in the day time. Well worth a visit

This little museum is expertly curated. Not only is it beautiful, but the very short films (1-3 minutes each), are excellent. Nice gift shop with helpful staff. This should be your first stop in Tmaru.

I enjoyed coming in here, it offers more exploration and wonder than many museums as it’s set up as almost a school activity/ investigation center. It has things they encourage you to touch, drawers you open, places to explore and little info boards that open up. Even has a creative coloring in section for if you have a young one who gets bored.

We had a great time. Small, enjoyable exhibits. If the weather isn’t terrible, go outside and enjoy the sculptures. Worth the time.

Haven't been there for many years even though I live locally & wish I had. It was lovely with expansive lawns & tree areas & a large duck pond.

We decided to drive through the park as we left Timaru. There are plenty of walking tracks in this long green park, along with mountain bike tracks. Infact there was a mountain bike event runnung in the park as we drove through.

From the moment you arrive, you'll find that this is a fantastic place.
I arrived solo on an unpremeditated trip from Christchurch. Decided I wanted to do a couple of laps in the pools. I rolled up and found out it was in a prime location. Parking was far and wide and easy to access. Massive building with well-kept facilities. The staff were beyond awesome and the main reason that I am leaving this review. Seriously... FABULOUS! As for the pools, they have a large variety including many indoor lanes, an outdoor pool, a couple of kiddie pools and what looked like a hot pool (not too sure about that one, though.) Pricing is very reasonable: 1 adult doing laps is $6.50. One of the cheapest aquatic centre's that I have visited. Everything was clean and maintained. Plenty of lifeguards on alert as they should be. There was a pretty busy gym upstairs that looked well equipped with treadmills etc. All around, fantastic experience and I will definitely be coming back in the future!
    Loved it.

Be aware that access is now temporarily, from either the south side of theroad bridge on King street (head east toward the sea.)

    Or
you can walk to the track from the public carpark on Collins St. Go across the large field sea-ward, and follow the gravel walking track. Then, after about 10 mins, cross the timber foot bridge. From here you can go onto beach for a look or carry on across the boardwalk and around the wetland, There are nice places to sit and even a picnic table on the highest part of the track with a great view on the south side of the creek. Its an easy walk with only slight uphill parts.

I love visiting here in blueberry season. I have been 3 times this season. Once with youngest grandson and twice by myself. You can eat while picking which I always do. The blueberries are delicious..sprayfree. .the best. Great thing to do with kids.

I’ll spend 3+ hours at HOSS a week, taking part in the monthly leaderboards and championships, or just using it as a training tool for my Motorsport. Hamish is always ensuring your experience is what you want and expect and more! Along with a great atmosphere and top of the line simulators it’s the place to be in timaru for a truely enjoyable experience!

We visited this Visitors Centre as part of our Timaru Discovery Walk whilst off our cruise ship. We were taken on a shuttle bus from the wharf to Caroline Bay and followed the memorial walkway to view display panels in honour of the war battles and heroes. Continued along the promenade and boardwalk toward the beach outlook to the Benvenue Cliffs to enjoy the view of Caroline Bay and learned about Timaru’s shipwreck. Followed the path back through New Zealand native tree planting across the grassed are past the bird aviary and saw wind sculptures and whaling history. Climbed up the steps to a lovely tea house to enjoy morning tea of scones, jam and cream. After morning tea we walked down to Trevor Griffith Rose Garden which boasts more than 1000 rose bushes unfortunately they were at the end of their flowering season. On to the visitors centre which houses the Te Ana Māori Rock Art display which is absolutely mind blowing.

Serendipity has a wide range of interesting, curious items and antiques. The range is very good and the pricing is reasonable. You will be able to find something you didn't know you were looking in the collection that is spread across two rooms. I love this shop and always walk away with something every time I pass through Timaru.
