Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great planes, lots of interesting history, and helpful docents. One of the best aviation museums in the world. Well worth a trip!

The property has recently been taken over by another couple - church has been upgraded and marquee erected.
Very pleasant stroll on a marked circular route

For such a small entry fee, you have so many options for fun and entertainment there really is something for all of the family. The staff are all very friendly, the setting is perfect and the location is easy to find if you're in Ashburton or just passing through. Definitely recommended.

We did the Mount Sunday Track hike on November 25, 2023. First, I just wanted to mention that the Google Maps estimate for the time to drive from the main road through the Haketere Conservation about 1.5 hours (each way) and it took us about half of that, driving between 35-65 km/h on the gravel portions of the road, and the speed limit on the paved sections. Second, there is a bathroom with toilet paper at the trail head, as well as one along the drive. The trail itself is beautiful. It's flat but walking on loose medium-sized rounded stones until the last bit when you climb the hill to the 360 degree viewpoint, which is definitely worth it! Filming location of Edoras from the Lord of the Rings.

    What a great day!
I wasn’t sure what to expect but had a thoroughly delightful time.
Ruth is an amazing hostess and the food she provided was wonderful.
She’s such an interesting person with such a wide range of knowledge of music and instruments, the time just flew by. Would recommend to anyone but families with children would probably particularly enjoy it.

We drive past this often on SH1 on route to /from Chch but seldom think to stop. So pleased we did, the space is amazing. Beautiful, mature trees of many types create a wonderful setting. Sculptures set around the lawns and some good history with the memorial plaques, add extra interest. Loved it. Great stop for a Punic and a run on the grass for the kids

Don't you love it when you visit little community museums nd they're full of bric n brac and nik n naks from your own childhood? If you do the. This is the museum for you. It is lovely to wander around in but it also tells the story of the development of the Ashburton District and communities. There is weight given to the local contributions to the war efforts, which is apposite as it is across the road from the War Memorial (which is undergoing restoration
    as I write).
The Childrens Holocaust Memorial is housed here at present and is a moving and representative demonstration of how many children met their premature deaths during that reign of terror.
Upstairs you will find the Ashburton Art Gallery.

We were travelling from Mt Cook to Christchurch and had seen this winery was en route. We were taken the dining area and the lady gave a fascinating chat about the wines. We bought two and enjoyed drinking them them later on in our holidays. So much better to buy from vineyards, particularly smaller ones, than supermarkets.

I have driven by this course many times but played it today for the first time.
The course has an excellent layout, with narrow fairways on most holes with undulating and narrow greens.
The greens were not overly fast but very true, some are slightly raised and putting the ball in the right spot gives you a good chance of holing your putts.
The condition of the course was excellent.
Greens Fees for affiliated players are $25 and non- affiliated $35 which I beive is very good value.

Absolutely NOT expensive. You won't find better, more affordable, quality socks than these which are MADE onsite. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Just check that you have a L & R if appropriate and scan for holes/weak seams. It IS a factory store. They sew for Kathmandu, Swazi, Swandri, Kuiu, etc. For dress, hiking, skiing, travel etc. Stock changes all the time. BRING CASH. No electronic transactions... And ONLY open Mon-Fri 10-4. I have been multiple times, over many years, with overseas family and clients as well as for personal use.
