Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- doodlebugakjSeattle, WA1,443 contributionsCould not believe the different levels of blue in the water. We walked the beach and loved all the activities going on. Close to a lot of restaurants and shoppingWritten 10 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tink-n-PeterEllensburg, WA43 contributionsThe was the best opportunity to purchase souvenirs of our trip, and some of the booths benefited local charities. Soap, sarongs (pareu), notecards, shirts, jewelry, and lots more. We learned that not all the items for sale are actually from Rarotonga or the Cook Islands. Food and fresh coconuts. Be prepared for a line at the atm. Parking was messy, but there were plenty of spots on the main road a short walk away.Written 30 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DeanaEnumclaw, WA57 contributionsThe hike wasn't as difficult as I expected from other reviews. My husband and I (53 years old) hiked from the carpark to the top and back the same way to the car. It took us 3 hours total but we went slow due to my bad knee and stopped for pictures and spent about 30 minutes at the top. We didn't do the chain at the top because the wind was blowing very hard.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - doodlebugakjSeattle, WA1,443 contributionsWe stopped here a couple times while on island. Took a nice stroll with our toes in the sand and saw some awesome shells. Came back to watch a sunset once. - Voyage293242052142 contributionsWe loved the old CICC building and the Sunday service that we attended there when visiting the island. The church is decorated with colourful stained glass windows, which were open to a cooling breeze and a view of "the needle". The enthusiastic harmonised singing of the congregation was wonderful and it was fun to see the different groups of locals egging each other on. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and we were invited to share morning tea with them after the service. All in all, it was an uplifting experience and the perfect way to spend our last morning on the island.Written 31 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - owleseyRolleston, New Zealand985 contributionsNot only is it the abundance of sea life....including the odd turtle....it's how age friendly this part of the lagoon is. I had my 80+ mother with us, and this part of the island was so easy for her to get in and out of the sea, and some many fish to see without having to go out deep.Written 9 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only issue was Jetstar losing one of suitcases, took three days to fly it from AUCKLAND, so much for paying an extra 20kg for extra bags. Also never got told who removed and took my padlock off my bag.
Other than that take your insects repellent. ⁶Written 10 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The owners are very passionate about trying to establish cacao farms on the Island to export chocolate, to provide jobs and income for people in Rarotonga. This was quite an interesting experience - the tour involves walking around the yard and seeing cacao and coffee at different stages of growth, and tasting as well. The tasting tour includes tasting lots of very, very dark chocolate, as well as and chilli vodka. They sell both as well as vanilla extract. A very unique experience - they also offer farm tours.Written 12 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - doodlebugakjSeattle, WA1,443 contributionsDecided since it had rained a lot that it would be nice to see the waterfall. First, we had to pay a man before being allowed in. The road was really bumpy and not clearly marked. Drive past the dog rescue and they all thought we were there for them so felt bad. Was a nice little waterfallWritten 10 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Kids went off to Sunday School and reported back as to what they had learnt too. Fantastic singing. - Ange ZMelbourne, Australia30 contributionsGreat little walk. Easy to find. Pathway was a bit rocky and slippery as we had recent rains, however still manageable. View at the top was nice. Would be beautiful on a sunny day.Written 18 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
