Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Incredible experience! Our tour guide Daniella was amazing-- so knowledgeable and fun to talk with. We saw two sets of mom and baby sloths and it was amazing to us that Danielle was able to spot them when they were so hidden to our eyes. We saw a baby sloth on her own so close by. It was WONDERFUL! We also saw Jesus lizards, a nest with a baby hummingbird, blue jean frogs and plants that would curl up the moment you touched it. Highly recommend this experience. It was fantastic!

Let me start by saying this tour is 5 stars but DO NOT BOOK IF YOU ARE NOT IN DECENT SHAPE LOL. I mean book these excursions but if you have time do it on different days. Our tour started at 7 we had Oscar and he was amazing! We did all 6 hanging bridges which was a 2 mile hike then proceeded to the water fall.. those 500 steps “532” to be exact were not for the weak. I personally struggled on the way back and I’m 5’1 170 lbs. I felt bad holding the group up but Oscar stayed with me the entire way. We stopped by the a restaurant for lunch and it was Amazing we then proceeded to do the volcano tour by which time we were exhausted lol but the view was nice we then ended in the Tabacon springs which were beautiful!! Honestly all places were amazing but I would do the waterfall and springs on a different day to fully enjoy. Hope this review helps you!!

What a fun mini adventure! Joseph was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we saw so many interesting animals, plants and insects. The property, and the family who owns and hosts the experience was incredible, the food was amazing, and the tour benefits the environment with a very inspiring story. Thanks for a great night!

This is the most amazing tour I have ever been on. My school is here studying abroad and we had been on multiple tours and this one was by far the best one we did. Our tour guide “El Chapo Guapo” was AMAZING!! He made the tour so personal and I actually took information home with me. If you, your family, or school are looking for an amazing chocolate tour, tour guides, and interactions with the staff I would 100% recommend this to you!!

This tour was a wonderful introduction to the area. We did the hanging bridges first which is an immersion in the tropical rainforest environment. Having a tour guide is a must as our tour guide Isaac worked overtime spotting wildlife which we never would have even noticed on our own. Breathtaking views from the bridges of the volcano.
We had a snack of delicious fresh fruit before driving to the waterfall. With over 500 stairs down and over 500 stairs back up this is not for the faint of heart- but if you pace yourself you can make it and it is so worth it! Swimming in the waterfall pool was so refreshing and the magnitude of the waterfall is stunning.
Back up the steps and then a short drive to a local restaurant not open to the public. We were treated to a custom Costa Rican lunch which was one of the best meals we have had here. The restaurant is open air and situated amongst the wildlife and a great spot for bird watching. Some of our tour group went on to see the volcano after this but we opted just for the two tours as this was already quite a full day. I can’t say enough about our tour guide Isaac- incredibly knowledgeable with an obvious passion for the environment. I would highly recommend this tour!

We did four activities all in one day--the volcano hike, hanging bridges, waterfall, and hot springs with both lunch and dinner included. The whole day was amazing. Our guide, Jazmine, was very skilled at spotting wildlife and allowed us to get some wonderful pictures of birds, sloths, snakes, monkeys, etc (even a tarantula) through her telescope. Since it was the off-season, we never ran into any real crowds and so had plenty of time to enjoy each area without being rushed off by others. Jazmine was a wealth of information regarding the history, plants, and animals of each place we visited and took the time to explain everything we were seeing. Even though we were exhausted by the end of the day, it was a great tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Ecoterra had every detail arranged perfectly and you couldn't ask for a better guide than Jazmine.

The Baldi Hot Springs was fantastic. There were 25 different pools to pick from, some relaxed and secluded, others decorated with waterfalls and rock features. It was a variety that everyone could find something they liked - as long as they liked hot tubs.

On our way to the springs we stopped to see some attractions which was nice to get some history of Costa Rica.

I would certainly consider this excursion again.

Great personalized service, knowledgeable and friendly guide and helped us to see many animals on the tour which we would have missed had we gone by ourselves.

Early pickup on time, in a modern clean van. First stop old town Sarchi, a historical town noted for building the coffee bean oxcarts. Nice stop with an informative demonstration and very clean restrooms. Then it’s a long bumpy curvy drive out to La Fortuna for a local typical Costa Rican lunch. Then it’s off to hike to the volcano viewing point, for a 15 minute photo op. Very very lucky to have cloudless day for viewing. Next is the main attraction, the Hot Springs, so nice. Every received a locker key, instructions, and the option of towel rental for a $10 deposit. We had 2 1/2 hours of soaking time, which is more than enough time, and 30 minutes to shower and change into dry clothes. So relaxing and so many water options to choose from. The dinner buffet had plenty of choices, and we had an hour to enjoy our meal. Food was good and plentiful, but not excellent. The only negative was the return trip back was almost 4 hours, with no restroom break, that is unacceptable. Going there we had two 30 minute breaks, but returning not even a 5 minute gas station break. Would have given 5 stars, but a passenger asked for a returning restroom break and was denied, just wrong.

My husband and I did the extreme jungle hike yesterday. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we had the time of our lives. It was just the three of us on private property bordering the national childrens forest. Our guide said he’s only run into another person on that hike one time. It was incredibly remote and the trail was skinny and difficult. It was about 3.2 miles total but it took us 2 hrs 45 min with stops at two different waterfalls. The waterfalls and jungle were breathtaking. We have never experienced anything so remote and beautiful. If you love a challenging hike and want to really get the jungle experience, definitely do this. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

Saw plenty of amazing wildlife. We had a private guide, Roy, who was very good at spotting creatures. He was also very knowledgeable about the wildlife there so we learnt a lot. We were lucky that it wasn't too busy but I believe it can get very crowded at times so pick your entry time carefully.

Our family of 4 (kids age 9 and 12) did the horseback riding of El Silencio Preserve. The guides were kind and very good with the horses. Horses all looked healthy and were easy to ride. Along the way, guides pointed out a snake and helped us get photos, and they also arranged us at the highest point in the ride for some family photos. Kids really enjoyed it. Great activity and tour of the preserve!
