We visited both the lower and upper lakes areas. I loved both, so visit both if you can. If I had to compare, I'd say the lower lakes were more overall picturesque, at least when we visited, with more of the emerald type of color and pretty reflections in the water. It also had the largest waterfall, Veliki Slap, near entrance 1. But the upper ones are definitely worth seeing as well. We started our visit at entrance 1 and the lower lakes, then took the boat across Kozjak to the upper lakes.

We visited Plitvice by starting at entrance 1, which had us start above with a view of Veliki Slap and other nearby features, and then head down to a closer viewpoint below it. I liked this entrance, it gave us the dramatic overview and then a chance to be up close with the waterfall itself. This was one of the more crowded places we were all day, with lots of people around taking pictures and selfies, so be prepared for that unless you're very early or late in the day.

Like most parts of Plitvice lakes, its hard to describe the sheer beauty of it. This fall is just below the bigger Veliki slap yet just as beautiful to see. We were ther e at the end of the winter period so couldn't get down to the board walks underneath it due to the snow on them but you could still get a good view of these from the high vantage point across from it. Still lovely to view it from there.

The first lake you meet when entering this park is Kozjak. This one is the second one during your walk on these wooden trails.
It is as beautiful as the other ones and can't be missed.
Hope you'll have a better weather than we had in September so your pictures be better (and more colorful/contrasted)

One of the prettiest falls in the park, in my opinion. Also, you can pull off the boardwalk here a smidge to linger (as long as it's not crowded, as it very much can be) and get some good photos.

Located in the Upper Lakes area of the park, this waterfall is most easily accessed by entering Gate 2, though it's worth it to go to the Lower Lakes area as well. The whole park is beautiful.

We visited both the lower and upper lakes areas. I loved both, so visit both if you can. If I had to compare, I'd say the upper lakes had a larger variety of and more waterfalls (lower really only had the one big one). But the lower ones are definitely worth seeing as well. We started our visit at entrance 1 and the lower lakes, then took the boat across Kozjak to the upper lakes, where we walked around and near them all the way up to the top. Definitely a wonderful day and a highlight of Croatia (and Europe!)

To reach reach this lakeyou'll have to walk several hours if you enter the park at gate 1 as it is situated in the upper lakes part of this Park.
So to reach it faster you'll have to take Entrance 2.
You can take a look at the attached map.
It is definitely worth the effort anyway.
From Entrance 1, your best option to avoid walking more than 2 hours to reach it is to take the boat trip on lake Kozjak and then walk towards the upper lakes. Then you will find it.
Try to visit this Park by good weather, as always, if you want to take good pictures.
    Our weather was terrible, unfortunately.
    Hope you'll have better luck.

This was the largest of the Upper Lakes in the park (other than the two final ones that we only skirted at the end of our walk). It had a section surrounded by lovely waterfalls, with lots of water flowing over them, that we really enjoyed. All of the lakes in this park are wonderful!

This area had a lot of water flow when we visited, in late May after a lot of rain. This waterfall was one of the most impressive we saw - not quite as tell as the Veliki Slap near entrance 1, but much wider and with a nice picturesque foreground that made it one of my favorites to take pictures of.
