Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful locations and Harry was an excellent guide. The lunch provided was also great. Would recommend to anyone, whether solo or as a group.

One of our favourite tours in Japan. Yuki did a wonderful job of providing the history and current practices of the Geisha as well as showing us the highlights of the Gion area.

This is a great experience; we learnt a lot about Samurai culture, and had fun learning how to use the traditional Samurai swords. Truly awesome!

What a fun addition to our trip to Kyoto! Before this ramen cooking class we never would have know what goes into making the perfect ramen dish. Sakura led our class. She was entertaining, helpful and the perfect person to lead this cooking class. All of her assistants were wonderful as well. Not only did we the ramen step by step, but it was a delicious lunch. I highly recommend this tour for couples or families!

During our visit to Kyoto, we chose to do a private walking tour, and it turned out to be the best decision! Our guide, Toshi, was fantastic—his deep knowledge of the city's history and culture really brought the experience to life. He answered all our questions and made sure we enjoyed a perfect balance of cultural insights and historical context as we explored Kyoto. It was the ideal way to wrap up our two-week adventure in Japan. I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Kyoto!

Michael was a great guide with immense knowledge presented in an easy to digest manner. The bike riding was lots of fun. Plus a bonus recommendation of a wonderful Raman just round the corner.

This was a great way to explore Gion and to learn more about the area. Yuko was wonderful and also shared many recommendations for the rest of our trip.

i really enjoyed touring the museum and the dance performance by the maiko. The museum display include kimono, footwear, obi, hair ornaments, musical intruments and many other items used by maiko and geisha. The panels explaining the objects in the museum were easily translated into English using the barcode photo app on the iPhone. The dance was the hilight for me. I love dance and the maiko are so graceful in their hand motions and movement. I would go again.

Good fun, and informative tour. Learned a little about the history and then some dress up, photos and shuriken throwing at the end.

Chihiro, was the most fantastic guide and even answered our questions hours after our tour was over!
If you only have a short time in Kyoto this is a must tour and you will have a fantastic time, please make sure you have the correct footwear because there is quite a bit of walking involved.
Thank you so much Chihiro. ☺️

Omg - this was amazing! Seriously, one of the very best things we’ve ever done on any trip (and we travel a lot).

It’s truly an authentic experience. You learn so much. The teachers and staff are so kind and helpful. And it was so much fun - even for an observing parent. Our 2 kids (18 year old female and 11 year old male) loved it. But even the adults there loved it too.

I can’t say enough good things about it.

If you’re thinking about doing it, just decide and do it. You will not regret it.
