Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore8,646 contributionsLocated at Yide Road near the Haizhu Square in the city center, this beautiful over 130-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is a holy and peaceful site in the bustling and busy urban area. From our hotel at Qiaoguang road, we walked here within 15mins of leisurely paced walk.
The cathedral was nice, aka the Notre Dame of Guangzhou (similarly to that in Ho Chi Minh City) with the same architectural style. Unfortunately, on the day of our visit, the Cathedral was closed to the public for some private events and so we could not stand outside to take photos and read the intro from the information plagues.
And along the section of the cathedral was small square with 2 rows of shophouses and cafes and right next was a long stretch of shophouses selling dried foods, toys and stationery which was very crowded, noisy and full of vibes but within the cathedral area, it was quiet and peaceful, what a contrast, all within 100-120m of distance!Written 22 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At the end of the square, you have the ‘party wharf on the Pearl River, looking onto the tallest building in the world, Canton Tower!
Also close by is the Guangzhou Opera House and Library plus the Guangdong Museum!

- KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina65,207 contributionsSun Yat-sen University is a beautiful campus where I give guest lectures. Getting a tour from someone who can tell you about the campus and the meaning or symbolism of some of the statues is best. - Zorinho88Belgrade, Serbia85 contributionsYou can’t see much while walking down the narrow streets of Shawan but it is very good to replace crazy GZ with ancient village for just a couple of hours. Oyster shell house was a really cool thing to see (I have see one more in Xiaozhou village). I didn’t have a local to explain to me the importance of this place but I guess this is how ancient Chinese used to live.Written 2 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
