- gwen99Perranporth, UK36 contributionsI’ve been coming to Turkey for many years and love everything about it not least the cuisine. I spotted Mel’s Turkish Kitchen on fb and decided to give it a try-best decision I ever made, what a fabulous day!
Mel is a wonderful host and extremely knowledgeable demonstrating a range of dishes and explaining things very clearly. She filled in so many gaps in my knowledge I feel more comfortable now buying the fantastic local produce and how to use it. On my visit we learnt how to make a selection of cold starters and a delicious main course. I was solo but the rest of the group were couples but I can see this experience would be suitable to everyone, from solos to couples to groups of friends and parents with children.
Mel has since followed up with more suggestions and variations for the dishes we cooked. An amazing experience, I will definitely be back! - Janet H1 contributionMy daughter and I were visiting from the US and found the yoga studio and reiki sessions. Yildez is amazing!!! We came back for several sessions of reiki and loved her yoga classes. Very welcoming. - Maowy F32 contributionsWe had a fantastic 15-day (almost 3000 km) cultural trip from Trabzon to Gaziantep with Fatih and Overland Travel. There were many things to see, natural wonders, ancient cities, archeological sites and amazing museums. The people were kind friendly and helpful. We skirted the borders of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Syria on this trip.
I can't thank Fatih enough for making this experience not only so wonderful, but also so easy. Communication during the planning stages was painless, he was very responsive to questions and flexible. He is very trustworthy. From airport pick up to drop-off, the tour was seamless. Hotel choices can be challenging in this region (limited infrastructure, a lot of smokers), but he chose what we felt to be the best and most convenient locations. We also had a home stay experience in Van where we were able to interact with the locals in a more personal way. Fatih is a very knowledgeable guide - not only with regard to architecture and history, but also the local culture.
We felt very safe during the entire trip. There were many checkpoints especially in the border areas, but it did not bother us one bit.
Special shout out to our driver, Recep - even though there was a language barrier, we thoroughly enjoyed his company. He was warm, funny and knew where to find the best food. The food that we ate on this trip was top-rate and mostly inexpensive.

From the moment we met him, we liked him and felt very comfortable. He is so experienced and so intelligent, which is very reassuring when you’re a first time diver. He thoroughly walks you through the skills you need to know and why they are important, and under water he makes it very clear what to do. He is very patient and made us feel very safe, and we really trusted him underwater. Plus he does it with a sense of humour, and is extremely friendly and warm.
The rest of the crew were really great, including Onder and Ozzy. The dive sites are really beautiful. We can’t wait to get our advanced certification with them!
