Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Steve B7 contributionsGet there early to avoid the lines. Watch out for locals wanting to take you for tea. You will end up paying 100x the cost of the tea and leave knowing you were just screwed. Just say no to friendly locals.Written 9 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- roamasSydney, Australia761 contributionsGreat for shopping, but the shops start getting repetitive. Walk off the main drag and along the parallel and adjacent side streets for even better bargains. There's also a local market hidden there. It seems there are more eating options at lunchtime and at dinner time, they seem to shut shop early.Written 31 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IanHong Kong, China47 contributionsIt's easy to reach by local bus and the trip took less than an hour from the city. There are plenty of food stalls and eating houses to have lunch or just for a snack. The volcano park requires admissions fee but it's worth it, especially there are detailed geological description about the area. Walking up hill is not difficult even for the elderly; the trials, footpaths and staircases are well maintained, it's a safe place to go and there are well-indicated good locations to take pictures from a high level. Going to the crater is exciting but not dangerous, the staircases will lead visitors all the way to the bottom. Travelling back by bus requires paying attention to the schedule, missing the last one at around 17:00 could cause you to spend huge money calling a 'Taxi' !Written 16 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KodoDrummerBuenos Aires, Argentina70,626 contributionsFascinating laval tunnels formed more than 10,000 years ago, volcanic craters, dense tropical forest vegetation, beautiful wild flowers, areas of wild pineapple, many types of trees, including wild pineapple and more. A combination of beautiful scenery and odd looking volcanic shapes.Written 8 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - bennett2006Ho Chi Minh City600 contributionsTake note there's a smaller Haikou Museum and this bigger Hainan Museum. I almost went to the wrong one. However, if you happen to go to the wrong smaller one, the plus point is that the Temple of Five Lords is nearby.
Entry to museum is free but registration is needed (I didn't know till hotel reception told me).
You can either register online prior to your visit (through its website - need China internet and not foreign - receptionist helped me) or at the museum entrance when you reach there (bring your passport to register there - I only found this out when I reach there). Museum is closed on Monday.
Cool museum with 3 floors of interesting displays. Most, if not all, of the audio comments are in Mandarin. I believe you can rent an English version from the reception but I didn't. Gift shop at the ground floor.
Tip: After your visit, you can take a taxi/Didi to nearby Mova Mall for shopping. I didn't know till my taxi went past it on my way off.Written 2 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A wonderful vacation spot.Written 8 June 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TheCleaner485299Guildford, UK138 contributionsWe've been here a few times and thought I'd write a review this time
We parked the car for 3RMB on the west side of the park (bargain) before hiring a 5 seater bike (100RMB deposit, 70RMB refunded for an hour's hire) to head to the kid's areas on the east side of the park. The kids loved it and saved their energy (its a long walk/big park) for the entertainment and nagging for ice-cream... A reasonable amount of entertainment for the kids at fair prices with a few stalls for snacks
Took a leisurely loop back along the waterfront taking us up to the hour mark
Whilst it wasnt overly sunny today, there is plenty of shadeWritten 13 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Moderate space. Spend few hours here including lunch at fast food store. Still recommend every traveller to come here if you never go other movie studio before.

- HELEN DLRSugar Land, TX181 contributionsIf you visit Haikou, you sure would want to stand at the highest elevation point to take in the whole city, right? Then the volcano park is a must.
It’s not a big park, but nice layout to keep one entertained.Written 10 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Janaina BPiracicaba, SP118 contributionsAlmost nobody was there when I walked through a little after 4pm. It was not worth staying. Maybe it picks up in the evening. It has a wide range of foods and there is both indoor or outdoor shared seating.
I recommend this place for anyone who is looking for variety options at a single location.
The location is great. There are many shops and mall around. Many people circulate in this region which makes the place full throughout the day.Written 18 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s about a kilometre long and the you can go upstairs to eat or find more options. I enjoyed the scorpions and the fresh squeezed orange juices among others! The bbq options are also delicious!Written 14 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
