Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Explore108612686998 contributionsOur tour to Monkey Island and the sloth sanctuary in Panama was absolutely magical!!! This was largely because of our incredible guide, Pedro. His passion for the wildlife and deep knowledge of the area truly brought the experience to life.
We got up close with adorable monkeys and the cute sloths, learning fascinating facts along the way. Pedro's warmth, enthusiasm, and care for the animals and the country of Panama 🇵🇦 made the day really special for us.
There is also a 10 min bathroom break at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort and the views here are INCREDIBLEEEE. such a lovely unexpected surprise. I included a pic of the view in my photos - highly recommend this tour!! BEYOND worth it!Written 15 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - WorldtravellerKNHUnited States156 contributionsTao travels confirmed our private tour of Gambao , monkey island, sloth sanctuary. We had paid for the trip and confirmed private tour. Instead on the day - they send a small car and made it a regular tour with others. So no private tour and the car was so small that we had a really difficult time fitting everyone and for the whole day it was extremely inconvenient. Moreover the customer when we called them had a don’t care attitude and rather than figuring out how to fix their screw up were painful. The last thing you want on a vacation is this attitude. Neither will I ever use them, but would suggest any of you to find any other agency (there are literally 100s) for your trip to PanamaWritten 4 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MFC31London, UK4,002 contributionsOur experience with Canal & Bay tours is similar it seems to a lot of other people’s. Poor communication or incorrect information yet an amazing experience going through the locks on the canal.
We attempted to contact them 24hrs prior to our tour as requested in their email confirmation. 3 phone calls unanswered, but finally an email response around 830pm!
All of our paperwork suggested breakfast and lunch was to be included as we’d be picked up around 6-630am. The email response mentioned above said a 9am pickup. It became clear throughout the day that they do 2 tours per day. We were on the ‘lunchtime’ tour. Which meant no breakfast, luckily with the later start time we’d grabbed a coffee and a pastry to tie us over until breakfast was served. It never was!
Lunch was served on the boat about 140pm, meaning we’d been on tour for almost 5hrs before we were given any food despite having written evidence saying that breakfast was included!
Throughout the day, there was a lack of communication about what was happening and when. For example, once the boat docked we all got on a bus assuming it’d take us back to the hotel. Luckily, our assumption was correct!
Once we were on the boat, it was a brilliant tour! This part was worth a 5 star rating. Our guide, JC was full of information about the canal, it’s history, political significance and interesting trivia about it. He was engaging and funny, very approachable and just a fun guy.
It’s a real shame his talents as a guide are let down by a terrible run business. For $150US each, I honestly expected better organisation and breakfast!Written 26 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were picked up at the airport by our guide after giving them our flight info & time. We saw the Panama Canal and Casco Viejo, Panama City’s colonial quarter. We learned about Panama's history from our awesome & very knowledgeable tour guide, Roger, who is 61, but looked like he was in his thirties! He has a passion for sharing his knowledge of the history & was an excellent guide! He had us back to the airport right on time. Awesome experience & grateful that we were able to do this! Thank-you!Written 9 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Robert1702481 contributionWe went to the San Blas, on the Caribbean side of Panama, little archipel you can only visit with a boat. Pure beauty, a big number of incredible islands that you before think they only exist in your dreams. Most of them have no inhabitants, just wonderful clear and colored water, super thin sand and coconut trees.
Oscar the Captain of the boat knows the San Blas by heart, knows where to lead you and make you discover the best spots, where you will be alone with only beauty as neighbour.
Great comfort on the boat, everything to cook good meals, have nice showers, everything very clean and practical.
But maybe the best was the kindness and the hospitality of Oscar and his wife Made, always active to please you and give you the best serviceWritten 26 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
