Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Kristina BJacksonville, FL45 contributionsMy friends and I stayed in an airbnb in Casco Viejo and it was the perfect area to stay in. All of the architecture was beautiful, and there were so many shops and restaurants to go to as well. A must see!Written 3 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Teddy GSan Francisco, CA4 contributionsWe recently visited Cinta Costera and were pleasantly surprised by how clean and vibrant the area was! Given what friends had told us about their experiences a few years ago, we expected to find a litter-strewn mess. Instead, we discovered a beautifully maintained space brimming with life. The trash was all contained in bins, and the surroundings were spotless.
Walking from the Paitilla Hotel to Casco Antiguo was a fantastic experience. Not only did we get some great exercise, but we also had the chance to mingle with locals. Everyone we encountered was friendly, offering smiles and warm greetings of "hola." The atmosphere was lively, with families, joggers, and cyclists all enjoying the open space.
Cinta Costera is definitely a highlight of our trip, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience the heart of Panama City. It’s a perfect blend of exercise, culture, and stunning views!Written 26 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We visited it accidentally when the tour van was dropping off other guests after the tour. Costa del Este is a new built area, with more high rises, further on east, after the historic Panama Vieja (see that review). New modern hotels, corporation towers and apartment blocks dominate this expensive area. It reminded me on Dubai Marina, a city outside the main city.Written 10 April 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Robert ORotterdam, The Netherlands5,815 contributionsIt is one of the main four to six lane arteries of modern Panama city and serves to access the skyscraper area by car or bus. Currently large parts of it are being renovated, but the main purpose remains to make things easier for cars. Panamanian city planners seem to follow the USA example which is very much inflenced by the interests of car makers and oil lobbies. I wished they would have planted more trees and made more green zones. Now it is all stone and asphalt, with some glass and metal. These materials absorb and/or reflect the heat, which means that from about noon Via Espana is bloody hot and very unpleasant for pedestrians, not to mention cyclists. It is as if the municipal authorities did everything within their ability to discourage people from walking or moving around themselves. No wonder obesity is on the rise in Panama.
For those who venture outside the car, bus or metro at night: via Espana is safe.Written 12 April 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
