Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

i wouldn’t pay a guide to do this but it was fine for a few bucks to visit.

- Flying_TexanHouston, TX86 contributionsNo admission and yes another contributor said it - way too much trash all over. - Face_The_ElementsEdmonton, Canada343 contributionsThe archeological park wasn’t hard to get to but our GPS took us off roading just prior to arrival. So be careful! We arrived as soon as it opened and there wasn’t anyone there. They didn’t have any English speaking tour guides so we went without. The museum has many interesting artifacts and stories about the locals in the area. There were some well preserved pieces to see and when you continue to the ruins, you can see the dig site and how it’s also still intact. Very interesting place to visit, especially if you like history.Written 29 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SalaYYZToronto, Canada50 contributionsThe main church of the capital. There are some architectural features reminiscent of both European and Colonial American churches.
For Catholics, aside from the Blessed Sacrament, the must-visit is the crypt below where Saint Oscar Romero is buried. The tomb is in the form of a brass sculpture adorned with various symbolic elements. A holy place.Written 21 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Ana is superb! She shared a lot about her life in El Salvador and about the museum.

The lake itself is stunning and on a good day the views are breathtaking. - The World is My OysterOrlando, FL21,853 contributionsThis was definitely the spot to be at night, as there were so many restaurants and bars everywhere. The atmosphere was very cool, and it felt safe all around.Written 4 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mikebrownnzCardiff, UK1,033 contributionsThere is some very important work being done here to store and grow tens of thousands of seeds and plants. As a visitor attraction, however, it is a very pleasant place to wander around but not in any way exciting. It's possible that it makes a difference what time of year you visit but when I was there in March there was nothing "in flower". It has a lot of shade to protect from hot sun and it has what looked like a relatively modern children's play area.
The only other place of interest in this area is a craft brewery along the road so, as a dedicated destination, it would be a long way down my list of recommendations of places to visit in San SalvadorWritten 13 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It contains a large collection of relatively recent Mayan/Salvadoran anthropological artifacts. Older Mayan history is underrepresented but the displays present an extensive panorama of Salvadoran culture over the last several centuries. Exhibits are curated in both Spanish and English. This museum is highly recommended but not if the visitor's main objective is ancient Mayan history. Entrance fee is US$10.Written 1 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TravelingSoccerLoonSaint Paul, MN8,543 contributionsA trip to the top of Volcan San Salvador and El Boqueron National Park is a must if visiting San Salvador. It is a 30 minute Uber ride from the Zona Rosa area of San Salvador. Make sure you arrange for the driver to wait or return as there is no cell service at the top. It is a short mildly strenuous hike from the parking lot to the overlooks of the crater at the top of the volcano. We spent about 30-40 minutes hiking at the top. Great views of San Salvador from the road up to the top. Plenty of restaurants and cafes with spectacular views along the road to the volcano and at the top.Written 5 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
