We snorkeled at a lovely sandbank along the pristine reef, jumped of the boat in front of an untouched island, and had authentic lunch and walk around another island (where cast away was filmed). - Cassandra W10 contributionsThis was an awesome trip for our family of three adults. Everything was perfect from the pickup by coach to the return back to our accommodation. We left the port on time, were welcomed onboard with a refreshing drink and great big smiles, had a lovely morning tea and buffet lunch. The staff were excellent, entertaining, great singing and great music throughout the cruise. A good amount of time to snorkel and the slide into the water was fun. - Lavinia8 contributionsThe island is beautiful, water is crystal clear, they had paddle boarding kyacks volleyball, beautiful trees and flowers, we booked a pool side bed it did cost extra it was worth it, the food delicious. my teen daughter enjoyed her day there as well. However, it took an 1 hour of boat trip thus making little time in terms of experience on the island. - Jason VCharlotte, NC208 contributionsWe enjoyed our time at Castaway Island. It's a nice resort far away from Nadi in the Mamanuca island group. The resort itself has a restaurant, gift shop, adult pool area (although families hang out there, which wasn't wonderful), and a kid pool area. The public/common areas of the resort is not that large.
Non-motorized water sports, like kayaks and paddle boards, are available, as well as snorkeling. There's not a large area to do these activities, given the busy water ways.
It's a beautiful island with beautiful views. You certainly get to escape Nadi and the busy port, but a downside is it feels like 2-3 hours of the 9 hour trip are spent on the ferry to/from Castaway Island from Denarau Island. Malamala Beach Club offered the same activities and amenities while only being 25 minutes from Denarau Island.
The staff on the island were friendly, but because it is an actual resort and we were on a day pass, it did feel a bit "Scarlet Letter" being the only ones wearing the colored wristband on the island.

Would have enjoyed a map of the island on arrival or on the menu to see all of the features. The music was louder than I would have liked, especially where our bed was located so couldn’t enjoy reading. - Alice DBrisbane, Australia1 contributionAn absolutely amazing day. Very long day but very much worth it. Very well organised and run - transfer from Nadi was super smooth. The village tour at the beginning was a great way to immerse yourself into Fijian culture. The locals were very welcoming and the Kava ceremony was a bonus. The island and resort itself had everything you need. Lunch was delicious. Snorkeling was fun, the coconuts were nice and fresh - added bonus of seeing Sam (one of the friendly staff members) climb to grab them all). Although we only caught 2 crabs everyone got the watch the cooking and try some. Then we had about 2hrs of “free time” before dinner activities. Food plentiful, host informative with good sense of humour and entertainment excellent.
