Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Logan B2 contributionsWonderful place. The monkeys are very friendly and well taken care of. - Ramona P4 contributionsWe did a 4 day cruise on the Amazon River in La Perla. The accommodations were great, the crew amazing and the food outstanding and plentiful. The naturalists, Daniel and Robinson, did an excellent job as did the cruise director Tania, the bar tender Charles and Milton, the head in the dining room. They were all knowledgeable and very attentive.Written 12 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Michela F5 contributionsOur experience at Tapiche around new year was amazing. with Julio (our medicinal plants guide) and Aiden (expert in wild fauna and conservation and director of Tapiche reserve) we had incredible walks in the forest and learned a lot about vegetation, wild animals and indigenous traditions.
Julio shared his knowledge and local traditions very generously, and in a clear and understandable Spanish. His stories were fascinating and Aiden‘s scientific knowledge of the flora and fauna was complementing the folklore.
Together they make a great team!
My family and I are extremely happy with our experience at Tapiche and we would totally recommend it to anyone interested in a deep dive into the Amazonian Forest.Written 13 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - joeyf296Nine Mile Falls, Washington41 contributionsOur guide took us here by boat. He explained the conditions, the people, the politics of this district. We arrived in the dry season (low water), and the pollution in the area is staggering. We were taught that 30,000 people call this district home and that they have their own mayor, police, etc. There were a great number of vultures circling this area, near the river. I am so glad our guide took us to see this place. It was an eye-opening life experience I won't soon forget. I think about being...grateful.Written 20 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

JOhn picked us up in Iquitos, took us to RARAC, showed us around and took us home. We had several intimate encounters with some of the animals; I got to hold a 6 month old anteater, who inserted his tongue into my nostril! So so endearing. We bottle fed a manatee, quite thrilling, and interacted with several types of monkeys, who were eager to hold our hands and play with us. We saw a beautiful ocelot and macaw as well. The wonderful thing about RAREC Is that you can get quite close to some of the caged animals, like the monkeys, and interact with them - not at all typical. We were also able to swim in a pond where 3 manatees live; we didnt' see them but it was fun to know that they were nearby. We met several volunteers, had a delicious lunch, and were ecstatic for the rest of the day. Back home in Sn Francisco, I'm still holding that sweet young anteater in my arms.... all in all, this was an incredible experience, way over the top. - mdnsMadison, WI339 contributionsIt’s a great place for people watching, especially early in the morning and late evening. Except for the tours people who like to sell you their tours no matter what time, this small square of a small city is worth a visit.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mdnsMadison, WI339 contributionsIf you think the modern Iquitos is too messy and disorganized, think not! Not to miss to learn about the importance of Iquitos is this museum, giving history about the rubber trade and timber boom that made Iquitos an important trading frontier.Written 28 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tobias R3 contributionsThe Museum of Amazonian Cultures in Iquitos was an incredible experience! I loved learning about the diverse indigenous cultures and traditions of the Amazon region. The exhibits were very interesting and well-presented, and the museum staff was friendly and helpful.
One of the things I enjoyed most was the collection of objects and artifacts from the daily life of different indigenous communities. I was also very impressed by the section dedicated to traditional medicine and the medicinal plants found in the Amazon jungle.
I highly recommend visiting the Museum of Amazonian Cultures to anyone interested in learning about the rich history and culture of the Amazon. It was an enriching experience and I would definitely visit again on my next trip to Iquitos.Written 20 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A must for visitors here is to bring a ‘guide’ whether you think you need one or not: any local who accompanies you, holds your purchases, and shows you’re not fair game for pickpockets.
If the humidity doesn’t tell you you’re in the jungle, this review does.
Past the butcher stalls and snake eggs (don’t ask), there are gemstones, herbs and remedies.Written 23 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
