Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Blot57Worksop238 contributionsMind-blowing and awesome. Memories of 1982. Not many dry eyes! A quiet place for reflection. Glad to have had this experience.Written 5 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ArlettaCFairfield, CA1,131 contributionsSimple but beautiful church near the end of the southern world. So much history inside! We had a guided tour, and it was well worth it to have the regimental flags explained and the sweet memorial window for the bike-riding district nurse pointed out. Take a good look at the kneelers, all of which were hand-stitched by local residents. They are all different, and each one is a needlepoint work of art. Very atmospheric sanctuary.Written 1 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PBPGYorkshire, UK8,446 contributionsFabulous structure. It is built on land given by the Falkland's Island Company to commemorate the 100th year of British rule. Could do with more information boards thoughWritten 25 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Rambling_GiantGlasgow, UK879 contributionsAs part of our full day tour of Goose Green with Discovery Falklands (again and as stated previously, Tony was brilliant), we stopped at the Argentine Military Cemetery to pay our respects to those that had fallen. It was east of Darwin where a majority of this specific battle took place.
The area was divided into certain sections - the main body of the cemetery that contained the white wooden crosses above burials, the cenotaph, the glass plaques and the surrounding wall. Although 649 soldiers were listed, only 236 were laid to rest at Teal Creek (local name).
It’s a very regimented set-up there, with a back drop fitting for any remembrance. I find it hard to believe that the area has been vandalised twice - what’s wrong with people!
Standing within the walls on a cold but clear Falkland Islands day, I took a moment to remember all of the fallen - both sides were fighting for what they believed was the greater good. Both therefore deserve an acceptable place to rest.Written 15 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. If you're fortunate, offshore to the right on the way you'll see dolphins (I didn't), and killer whales in the sea beyond the lighthouse itself (I didn't see them either). A few yards beyond it is the Atlantic Conveyor memorial from the 1982 war.
Great place to visit and then sit on the nearby bench overlooking the rocks and sea, to make the most of the lunch you'll have earned getting there. Unless you drove of course, in which case you earned nothing... ;)
I hope they maintain it, and potentially renovate it so people can visit inside - no sign of that happening as yet.Written 24 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's ion a great setting tooWritten 25 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Tupelo010835Denton, TX1,933 contributionsOne of the many places we stopped in while strolling Stanley. When we were there, there were only a handful of others in the church. Everyone was quiet and enjoying the space. Very nice!Written 23 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PBPGYorkshire, UK8,446 contributionsA good memorial to those who lost their lives in world war one, not very far from the 1982 memorial which says something about human kindWritten 25 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Colin Fiske71 contributionsDuring our visit to Stanley while most from our cruise went to see penguins, we walked through the memorial wood which was very moving, more so as we remembered well the events that took place and the lives lost. Very glad we went to see it.Written 9 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dean-TravellerMugla, TĂĽrkiye1,181 contributionsThis bust of Margaret Thatcher is situated on Thatcher Drive, alongside the 1982 Memorial in Stanley. It is on the coast, a short walk from the cruise terminal in Stanley. A place for a quick photograph but, maybe, a longer reflection.
The bronze bust was created by local sculptor and taxidermist, Steve Massam and unveiled on Thatcher Day, 10th January 2015, the bust commemorates the life of the UK Prime Minister who died in 2013.
Thatcher's role in the Falklands’ conflct is celebrated here, as the leader who was willing to make the decision to liberate the islands after an invasion directed by the military government in Argentina.
The brass plaque beneath bears her words from 3rd April 1982 “They are few in number, but they have the right to live in peace, to choose their own way of life and allegiance”.Written 28 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Although primarily public, there was a prominent commemoration to those who served in both World War I and II.
Military personnel, numbering 33 in total, rest within the grounds (all of which fought for the Falkland Islands Defence Force). As well as public and HMS Kent related burials, a monument stands at the entrance to remember those who sacrificed everything.
Very moving and fitting - a fairly well maintained and cared for area that will always overlook Stanley in all it’s glory.Written 6 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - VAPilotVienna, VA406 contributionsA very nice gnome garden in a private back yard right next to the Rose Tavern. A welcome splash of color on a grey Stanley day. - Rambling_GiantGlasgow, UK879 contributionsI was slightly intrigued when I heard about this sculpture and spotted it instantly while travelling West on Ross Road. It sat down the slope from the Memorial with the Jhelum shipwreck in site.
Unfortunately, it was in need of sprucing up. Rusted, aged and missing a couple of Planets - a real shame to be honest.
The idea in it’s design is great and the identification of scale is interesting. I found it quite wacky given it’s positioning among various monuments and statues remembering past wars.
Overall, i’m glad I took the time to pay a visit but it needs someone to throw a bit of money it’s way to improve / upgrade the current condition.Written 18 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
