*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
Holden was a very knowledgeable tour guide, as we covered lots of ground and saw all aspects of the city. He took us to fish markets, flower markets, and many local historical sites. He had a very fun sense of humor, and have lots of stories to tell. Because we were on bikes we covered a lot of different neighborhoods. A great overview of Singapore city.
On advice of another relative we scheduled for 6:30 PM, although I would suggest a little later to enjoy more of the lights. It was raining and I thought it would be a total bust but still enjoyed the tour immensely.
The bus tour starts at SunTec City mall , which is where I would recommend boarding the tour due to high volume of passengers. There are two routes: red and yellow. The red route goes to more older traditional locations whilst the yellow goes round newer locations . Overall we preferred the red route. The commentary is by pre recorded headphones and is quite informative. The buses travel at a reasonable speed allowing you to view the sites easily. We booked the tickets online under big bus Singapore, and suddenly I received an email from a company called Headout and an SMS from a USA number ( also mentioning Headout). I was sceptical that I had been scammed but the tickets were within the mail and when we presented the tickets at the boarding point all was ok. So it does work ok. The red tour was very enjoyable but, for me, the journey through little India was the most memorable part due to the wonderful array of spice smells! We never got off the bus as stops were busy (it was Chinese new year time) and enjoyed seeing the sites.
We had a great time with Chingmeng - he was super engaging and knew so much about Singapore. He shared lots of history and culture during our tour, and introduced us to a few distinct parts of the city. Really tasty food and a good mix so we got to try a bit of everything. Highly recommend, especially as a first timer in Singapore as a way to help you navigate the many food choices you’ll have!
View from the Observation Deck was amazing! We were very lucky to get the e-tickets as they were closing the observation deck next day for renovations. Getting the E-tickets thru Tripadvisor was really easy, all you had to do was to be there 15 minutes before the entry time and show the e-tickets on your phone. They let us stay as long as we needed to. We enjoyed the beautiful lights across the water, it is something to see if you visit Singapore.
My wife and I completed the tour with our guide Choo. He was excellent, as was the tour. Covered many highlights of Singapore. It was the first thing we did, on our first visit to the city - it gave us a great idea of where to explore on our own in the next few days.
What an excellent experience! Not just a food tour with delicious samples (and plenty of those) but also a history tour delivered by the wonderful Linda who is a very proud Singaporean! I have done a few food tours in different countries and I rate this one as top tier! Thank you Linda, and the two young ladies who lined up, reserved tables and brought food to us. Loved the food and learning about its history!
